Merdene Charlie Zbinden, 76, Fayetteville, died July 14, 2008. She was born Dec. 6, 1931 in Clayton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Sally Oakes and the Rev. Sammy Orr officiating. Interment was at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Clem Zbinden, Fayetteville; sons, Tommy and Mary Kathryn Rainwater Jr., Douglasville, and Mark Zbinden, McDonough; daughters, Theresa and Donnie Shelnut, Sharpsburg, Carol and Wayne Shelnut Palmetto, Cynthia and Roger Tims, Stockbridge, Beverly and Ronnie Smith, Newnan, Bonita and Dan Jacobs, Moreland, April Grissinger, and Lisa Welch, both of Dallas; a brother, Paul Walden; sisters, Lucille Wilson, Margaret Williams, Doris Orr, and Ruby Mann; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.
