The Rev. Robert M. Lloyd, 81, Rome, pastor of Tyrone Baptist Church in the 1970s, died July 27, 2008. He was born in Floyd County Feb. 6, 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Herman and Lelia Gertrude Lloyd, his wife, Frances "Sissy" Ellis Loyd on May 20, 2004, three brothers, and three sisters. He had served in the United States Navy in World War II, servings as electrician mate 3C. He had served in the ministry 57 years. Services were at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, Rome with interment at the Floyd Memory Gardens. Survivors include a son, Greg and Ruth Lloyd, Collierville, Tenn.; a daughter, Amy and Rick Cottle, Murfreesboro; grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters. Daniel's Funeral Home, Rome, was in charge.
