Madjorie Slaton Thompson, 99, Tyrone, died Aug. 24, 2008. She was born Aug. 7, 1909 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Egbert E. and Myrtle Carrie Chapman Slaton, her husband, Johnny A. Thompson, and a son, Andrew Thompson. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Cross and the Rev. Scott Pickering officiating. Interment was at Hopewell Cemetery, Tyrone. Survivors include sons, Wendell and Pat Thompson, and Douglas and Pat Thompson, all of Fayetteville, and Ray and Debra Thompson, Carrollton; daughters, Barbara and Vinson Mann, Elaine Thompson Parrish and J. B. Ray, all of Fayetteville; sisters, Myrtle Eubanks, Newnan, Jerlin Chambers, McDonough, and Helen Howard, Oakwood; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations my be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Church, 351 Jenkins Rd., Tyrone, GA 30290. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.
