John M. Ellis Jr., 89, Fayetteville, died Aug. 29, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Rosa Ellis Sr. He was retired as a Master Sergeant with the United States Army and the continue his career working at Fort McPherson. He was a past master at Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #711, a member of the Fayette Shrine Club, and a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Graveside services were at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sara Ellis, Fayetteville; and brothers, Tom Ellis, McDonough, and Sidney and Henrietta Ellis, Powder Springs. Memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Children's Home in Macon, Ga. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
