Dorothy Buffington Hughie Smith, 89, Sharpsburg, died Aug. 29, 2008. She was born Oct. 27, 1918 in Earle, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sara Pogue Buffington, her first husband, Henry L. Hughie, her second husband, William R. Smith, and two brothers. She was a member of East Newnan Baptist Church.Memorial services were at McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Powers and the Rev. Pat Latta officiating.

Survivors include a son, Lawson and Mary Elizabeth Hughie, Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Jim and Judy Hughie, Sharpsburg, and Kim and Craig Sinclair, Luthersville; great-grandchildren, Beth, Kayla, and Tyler Hughie; a sister, Mary Culver, Douglasville; and a stepdaughter, Sadie and Maitland Adams, Gadsden, Ala.
