Archie Teate, 79, Valdosta, formerly of Fairburn, died Aug. 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Alan Teate, his first wife, Doris T. Teate, and second wife, Carolyn I. Teate. He lived in the Valdosta and Quitman area for 28 years but spent his last year in Brooks. He was with the United States Army in the Korean War, and then attended Georgia State University. He was retired after 38 years with International Harvester Company as a district business manager. He then continued to work for 11 years in computer sales. He was a former member of Providence United Methodist Church in Valdosta and then a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Services were at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church, Overton Chapel, with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, Valdosta. Survivors include a sister, Beatrice and Huie Bray, Brooks; a daughter, Janet Teate, Valdosta; a stepson, Terry Ingram, Dothan, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Trixie and Michael Buckmaster, Jacksonville, Fla.; and two sisters-in-law.
