Oliver G. Rainwater, 91, Union City, died Aug. 23, 2008. He was a lifelong resident of Fulton County, a member of the East Point First Baptist Church for 59 years, and a Mason for over 50 years. He had served in the United States Navy Sea Bees in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth S. Rainwater, a son, Oliver Glen Rainwater Jr., a sister, Agnes Horton, and brothers, Earl, Charles, ad Henderson Rainwater. Services were at the East Point First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. W. Wallis officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Sarah Foley Rainwater, Union City; a daughter, Margaret and Edwin Simmons; a grandson, Michael and Sharon Simmons and Eddie and Kim Simmons; great-grandchildren, Katie Simmons, Jeremy Simmons, Jason Simmons, and Miriam Simmons, all of Thomasville; brothers, Julius and Gloria Rainwater, and Dawsie and Mary Rainwater; sisters, Evelyn Dobbins, Odelle Guensch, and Jean Grant; and stepsons, Bob and Linda Foley, and Rick and Elaine Foley, all of Fayetteville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
