Martha Britton Courington

Martha Britton Courington, 71, Destin, Fla., formerly of Fayetteville, died Dec. 28, 2008. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C. where she graduated from George Washington University. She later earned a master’s and specialist degrees from Georgia State University. She moved to Georgia in 1971 and taught English and later became a school media specialist. She was also a realtor from 1978 to 2003. She was active in Fayetteville First Baptist Church for 32 years and served as adult Sunday School teacher and organist at Bluewater Baptist Church in Niceville, Fla., since 2005. Memorial services were held at Fayetteville First Baptist Church and at Bluewater Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Kelley Courington; a son, Joel and Kelly Courington, Cumming, Ga.; daughters, Allison Courington and Tony Hammons, Louisville, Ky., Kelley Courington and Mike Stillman, Newnan; and Jan Courington and Kerry Carden, Fayetteville; and eight grandchildren. R.T. Patterson Funeral Home, Lilburn, was in charge of arrangements.
