Gayle Lamb Parker

Gayle Lamb Parker, 56, Fayetteville, died June 12, 2006. She was born Feb. 6, 1950 in Chambers County, Ala. She was a resident of Fayette County for 30 years. She was actively involved in outreach and mission work at New Hope Baptist Church. She was the cheerleading coordinator for the Blue Devils Football Cheerleading program, and served as vice president of the Mixed Doubles ALTA Tennis League. She also served as a mentor for the Fayette County school system. Services were at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Thompson, the Rev. Rhys Stenner, the Rev. Wallace McAbee, and Carl Presley officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Richard Hatcher

Richard “Dick” Hatcher, 75, Fayetteville and Lantana, Fla., died June 8, 2006. He was reared in Palm Beach County, Fla., and was graduated from Lake Worth high School in 1948. He served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Embry-Riddle School of Aeronautics in Miami. He worked for Eastern Airlines in Florida and Georgia as an aircraft mechanic for 31 years. He had a vineyard and garden in Fayette county as well as growing mangoes in Florida. Services were at the Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Fla., with interment at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. Doris Marriana Linda Strong

Doris Marriana Linda Strong, 74, Fayetteville, died May 25, 2006. She was born on Sept. 4, 1931 in Germany and was reared there. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Anna Maria Rorig Engelhardt, and a brother, Horst Engelhardt. She became an Army wife in 1956 and her hobby was her family. She created handicrafts, and was an accomplished accordion player, vocalist, and a Master Chef. She loved St. Bernard dogs, and trained hers to become a champion. She served as the Military’s Regional Director for the American Red Cross in Germany, and volunteered in the United States Army Hospitals. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Ed Strong, Fayetteville; a son, Bill and Lisa Strong; a daughter, Cathryn Strong; grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, and Pierce; and a brother, Norbert Engelhardt. He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. He retired with 29 years service from Sears as the Southeastern Marketing Manager. He was longtime member of the Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow and a Watt Fellow. He was a member of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge F&AM #711, and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was a co-founder of Beautiful Fayette and a past vice-president of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.Services were at the Carl J.
