Elizabeth Choate Wortmann, 35, Peachtree City, died June 3, 2006. She was born Jan. 24,1971 in Morganton, N. C., daughter of Bob and Mary Choate. She attended school in Morganton and began playing competitive tennis at an early age. She attended middle school in Asheville while attending the Woody Blocher Tennis Academy. She was ranked No. 1 in North Carolina in the girls 14, 16, 18, and represented that state in the Junior Davis/Wightman Cup from 1985-1989. She played in the United states Olympic Festival in 1989. She attended high school in Escondido, Calif. She received a tennis scholarship to the University of Arizona, playing for four years, and the last year was captain of the team. She reached the round of 16 in the NCAA’s in doubles in 1990 and her team finished 4th in 1993. She worked as a tennis professional in Peachtree City for 12 years. A memorial services was at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, David Wortmann, whom she married Dec. 6, 1997 in Asheville, N. C.; and children, Matelyn Pate, four, and Luke Choate, two. Memorial donations may be sent to a scholarship fund, Beth Choate Wortmann Memorial Fund, Delta Community Credit Union, 472 Crosstown Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269. Carl J.
