Doris Marriana Linda Strong

Doris Marriana Linda Strong, 74, Fayetteville, died May 25, 2006. She was born on Sept. 4, 1931 in Germany and was reared there. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Anna Maria Rorig Engelhardt, and a brother, Horst Engelhardt. She became an Army wife in 1956 and her hobby was her family. She created handicrafts, and was an accomplished accordion player, vocalist, and a Master Chef. She loved St. Bernard dogs, and trained hers to become a champion. She served as the Military’s Regional Director for the American Red Cross in Germany, and volunteered in the United States Army Hospitals. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Ed Strong, Fayetteville; a son, Bill and Lisa Strong; a daughter, Cathryn Strong; grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, and Pierce; and a brother, Norbert Engelhardt. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
