Nitpickers: Getting really messed up!I am Nitpickers. Now I notice while I was gone that there is a Nitpickers1 on here now! It seems we are simply just going to have to discuss each blurb as to it content and ignore the name of the sender! TyroneConfidential: Spezzano's Italian DeliJust opened in Tyrone. I wish them great success. They should be thankful that Amos and the old government is no longer in power. Otherwise, the Spezzano family would be investing their money, hopes and dreams in a town whose government might pass ordinances without notice that would take away delis as a permitted use for downtown redevelopment and destroy the Spezzano’s business. Like they did to so many other businesses that are still suffering from ordinance 454. They won’t have to worry about Smola sneaking around the parking lot and his wife & her buddies coming in criticizing the businesses like she did at the antique shop, or Barry inspecting the herb shop without identifying himself trying to find some reason to refuse a business license. But beware, ordinance 454 and many other destructive laws are still on the books and Valerie is still the one who decides who and who cannot operate a business in Tyrone. JeffC: 10 FairTax questions for dcullingYour responses to my blog were so interesting that I started this new blog to make the conversation easier to find. First I want to say that we are in total agreement that the President’s Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform did not focus exclusively on the FairTax, it was one of several scenarios that they studied; so you are right! ptcjenn: Snow twice in one week in last 20 years?Hey, my dad just brought this up: In 1982 it snowed for a week here. Since then, can anyone remember it snowing more than one day of the week? We usually get one day and then nothing for a while, just curious. I think it was 1994 or 95 when it may have snowed overnight, which brought it up to 2 days, but 2 separate days seems like it's a first for us. Cyclist: If you are a Gerogia Natural Gas or SCANA customer...you might want to inquire about lower rates. According to the AJC, these companies have lowered there rates but are not required to tell you unless you inquire. Shaquita: Tyrone's Money TreeAfter watching the “new group” for two meetings it is evident that they have discovered a money tree. First they fire the existing Town Manager/Town Engineer. sageadvice: mah memiry failinmebee sumbodie kin hep mah recolect? hutch866: General informationThe HVAC company Airco went out of business the other day, so if you're trying to get warranty work done or call them a lemmondrop87: Tyrone and this paperLast week, this paper seemed Smolorised.... The John and John show made inappropiate smug remarks at the new government we worked so hard to get, and you wrote an editorial slamming them as well. ivana.trajkovska: Ivana... ivana.trajkovska: Ivana... Kevin Wandra: NFC and AFC championship predictions: Green Bay, New England advance to the Super BowlThere is nothing like the NFL playoffs. The first two rounds have been exciting, with the New York Giants and San Diego Chargers pulling off big upsets, defeating the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts, respectively, and the undefeated New England Patriots’ march to the Super Bowl. sageadvice: Joe's Christmas HolidayIt happened some years ago. My Great, Grand Uncle Joe Longtooth, who lives in Transylvania asked that we visit them that year. He and his Witch lived in an old Castle on the fourth floor and the castle had no elevator, or lift as they call it there. sageadvice: Inflation and recession and depressionThese things mentioned in the title above can not be defined anymore, accurately, due to withheld information and lies by this administration! jpopeye: EMC - your local service providerHere is a story to think about when choosing your utility company. On Wednesday, Jan 16th my middle school daughter came home from classes and could not get in the garage door. We have a keypad entry so the kids don't carry keys. She went to the front and found a notice from EMC. They had cut off the electricity. As she stood there our son pulled up and he let her in with his key. Our daughter called me and relayed the news. The Shadow: The Tyrone Councilvoted tonight to move forward with the forensic audit of the books. The only two people against it was Michael Smola & Eric Dial. Smola’s afraid the audit might turn up some criminal activity that would implement him. Dial is a Smola ally, having met with Smola last September to plan election strategy. Look for Dial to oppose anything that would change past actions of the old council. yardman5508: So where is the accountablilty. In this morning's AJC there is a note that the Georgia House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee yesterday passed the bill requiring a 1000-foot buffer between the residencies of convicted sex-offenders and children's centers {HB-1059}. Charity Rider: Off Topic/On TopicI do enjoy reading the various blogs and commentaries here at thecitizen.com. However, to me it is distracting and irritating to wade through several individual communications/personal messages that are not relevant to the original discussion topic. birdman: Steve Brown...Will you answer these question?Steve, rm.snell: free speech is full of the best quipsI did not write this but found it in free speech 1-16-08. Hail to the open views of the public: Tyrone’s new Town Council is 0-3. The new council promised ethical government; the citizens got an investigation of the mayor by the state of Georgia’s Ethics Commission. The new council promised open government; the citizens got secret council meetings at the mayor’s house. The new council promised to be fiscally responsible; the citizens got a new town manager with less duties than the previous manager, paid $22,000 above the maximum for a small town and a 58 percent increase in the hourly rate paid by the taxpayers for a town attorney. tennfan1: Snow Day!Happy snow day everyone! After a long year's drought, it's good to see a little precipitation, whatever the form. Though, I would like to send a modest plea to the FCBOE: give us Thursday off! A one-day break does wonders for morale, which is pretty low as it is. blazing2006: Cop Killers in DekalbPersonally, I hope these men are shot and killed, not captured. Their remains incerated and dumped at the landfill. What a shame. John Munford: Snow in Fayetteville, woo-hoo!UPDATE: 3:19 p.m. The tiny flakes have eaten their Wheaties apparently. Not only are they bigger but there are more of them. We're getting reports of significant snow in Peachtree City. gratefuldoc: More nonsense with loginsJust got logged off from the Citizen online only to find out that my password had somehow been changed. Look for a second half run and some scores to correct first half loses. eodnnaenaj1: zoes,We had discussed the East Fayette By-pass a while back, and questioned the reasoning behind this plan. I noticed yesterday, however, I couldn't read all of the sign because I was driving, there will be a zoning meeting on 1/31. yardman5508: The Times They are A'Changin'Thanks to Bob Dylan, for immortalizing those words. Of course, the times seem to ALWAYS be a’changin’, which is a statement about the pace of cultural change. sageadvice: Republican primariesFred Thompson may win the SC primary, giving the republicans four primary winners to consider. sageadvice: Doctors and computersOur doctors have been forced into the use of medically programmed use of lap top computers to operate their patient records. richRich Andrews: Dave Simmons For Sheriff.
