Snow twice in one week in last 20 years?

Hey, my dad just brought this up:

In 1982 it snowed for a week here.

Since then, can anyone remember it snowing more than one day of the week? We usually get one day and then nothing for a while, just curious. I think it was 1994 or 95 when it may have snowed overnight, which brought it up to 2 days, but 2 separate days seems like it's a first for us.

Any snow we get, I'll take it!

Do you think we'll get up to 'SNOW JAM 2008!!!' status on the local news??

I remember the snow in March 1993. We didn't lose our electricity and just enjoyed the beauty of it.

Snow jam 1982 was a different story. My husband was working in Atlanta. He tried to get home, made it as far as I-75 and everything was blocked. He had to abandon his truck, walk back to his office where he had to stay the night.

Meanwhile at home we had no electricity. Thankfully we had a fireplace, and managed to stay warm. The kids loved it. I was getting worried because we were running out of wood. Somehow a friend made it there to check on us and he brought a lantern and got more wood.

I was so happy when my husband got home safe and sound late the next day. What a relief.

I always felt so safe and secure when he was here.

I have very warm memories of Snow Jam 1982!

I was a senior in college and it was rush week. I'd just purchased $500 of alcohol for rush functions and loaded up my car when the blizzard hit...and boy did it ever hit hard!

My car spun out going down a steep hill and I slid into the parking lot of the freshman girls' dormitory.

God was trying to tell me something. I listened.

I spent the rest of the week there. Life was good.

I watched it all on news from my warm Southern California house. Five years later, I was calling this place home. Smiling

I remember that 82-er too. Went to pick up my daughter from school, and by the time we got home it was so bad the buses were sliding around. Her father was working on Roswell Road, took 10 hours to get home.

Like I said in another comment I do not miss that snow in any way shape or form!

I don't miss snow at all. I don't like to feel trapped, unable to get out and about. My husband would drive in it anyway, he would do okay if someone else didn't block him. Smiling

I'm glad you talked Cy into getting rid of that dang flashing frog. I had to skip over his comments because that frog made me ditzy. Sad

Have a good day & stay warm

There was a snowy week. We actually had decent snowmen, good snowball fight, etc. I think it was 1993, all I can remember is that my now almost 16 year old was too little to go out for long. Anyone else?

I remember it well, I figured the forecast was just one more false alarm, and I didn't get my bread and milk, and had to walk to a store in all that snow and ice!

If I remember correctly wasn't it kind of a surprise, more than expected? And it was on the ground for a day or two. I didn't get out of the icy driveway for a while.

First, I grew up in the mid-west and I think never having to deal with snow is a blessing.. I hate Snow. Its nice first thing in the morning and then it gets dirty and nasty.

Second, Whats the deal with the bread and the milk? Every time the weather channel so much as mentioned the possibilty of snow people around here go nuts buying bread and milk. You can survive one day without bread and milk. Its not wer're going to get snowed in for a week.

I too grew up in the midwest (here's the part where my kid rolls eyes) and I do remember the snow, and I do not miss it one bit. I remember walking to and from school, having recess, playing in, later driving in, getting cabin fever, all those fun things that snow brings. I'm with you, never having to deal with snow is truly a blessing.

If you seriously don't understand bread & milk thing - actually when most of us refer to that we are joking, it's kinda a regional thing. Those that actually do run to the store . . .I can't explain it either, I'd certainly be buying something more filling than bread & milk.

Our power went out, and we were very thankful for the fireplace one night. Never thought I'd be grateful to get Barney the dinosaur back!
