Snow Day!

Happy snow day everyone! After a long year's drought, it's good to see a little precipitation, whatever the form. Though, I would like to send a modest plea to the FCBOE: give us Thursday off! A one-day break does wonders for morale, which is pretty low as it is. (If you don't believe me, just drop in to any local high school, you'll see.) To watch it snow out of a classroom window is mighty depressing, especially considering that we haven't seen snow in any significant quantity in three years at least. All I (and most of my fellow students) ask is one day.

Yes, I remember. These are fond memories of childhood.

My high school--Deerfield Beach High School--was a new building built by retarded 1970s architects who thought that windows were obsolete. So if the A/C went down, the place was unbearable.

I can recall occasions when precisely that happened. The A/C shut down and they announced that school was shut down for the day.

We all retired to the beaches for women, waves and weed. Eye-wink

You're no fun!!! Have you forgotten what it's like to have an unplanned day off from school? The thrill? The joy? The possibilities for the day? And that's just the teachers!! ha ha ha

They forgot what it was like to be a kid. I grew up in N.C.- we had lots of snow days- it is fun. Do you think they even like kids-

I grew up in NJ and we had some snow days; not too many though because we had snow plows, but sometimes it would snow enough to warrant a day off!!! We would sled all day long! Not again probably just forgot what it's like to be a kid! Speaking (or would that be writing?) of kids...I'm off to pick up one from wrestling practice!

It's clear and 72 degrees at Roo's in Ellerton, Florida right now. No snowflakes have been spotted but the wind is kicking up and the crab cakes, fried pickles & grilled Mahi Mahi are outstanding. Smiling

I did see a couple of snowflakes out the window as we were lifting off at ATL around 16:30.

Well I can see you are really committed to that diet. I might have to stay an extra day in DFW since the flights on the company jet are very tight.

"The Diet" has taken a beating the last couple of days. I've got to get a grip on myself....slap, slap, slap. I got back from dinner and headed to the fitness room at this here Hampton only to find that they didn't have one. Bummer...now I'm stuck blogging. Smiling

Sorry not to answer yesterday but the internet went down at the Embassy Suites in DFW. To make matters worst their exercise room room is down for remodeling.

I like Hampton Inns, good value for the dollar but sometimes their gym offerings are "slim" which is what I should be.

I made it back home today. Israel is next week. We need to get together with "hutch" soon. Perhaps after the Feb 5th.

After eating at Landry's Seafood near the airport in Tampa this afternoon, I had to force myself to (as you call it) 'exercise my fat' too. Twas my first stop after getting off the plane. Of course a dozen raw oysters, beefsteak tomatoes with mozzarella, and a large bowl of seafood gumbo can't be too fattening. Can it?

Ever eaten at Roo's On The River in Ellerton? Close to Bradenton.

Gosh... why do I always eat so much while traveling?

Did you see or do anything interesting while in Tel Aviv?

I'm up for our lunch with Hutch. If we play our cards right and spring it on him at the last minute, maybe we can hang him with the tab. Evil

is how I got my rather "shapely figure". During this trip I was observing the "one meal plan" which of course was free. The Embassy Suites in DFW has an excellent hot breakfast featuring omelets.

After teaching my classes it was time for the "happy hour" with its snack food. That's where I get in trouble. At least I was drinking water rather than cola.

I leave for Israel next Thursday. I will give you all a shout when I get in. I think it's an 8 hour time difference. I know my body clock will be all messed up.

Lets look at setting this thing up with hutch early in Feb. My Feb calendar is starting to fill.

You were in Dallas. I thought you were stranded there. Oops!

Good deal on the lunch. At the moment the 5th looks good. You can ping me on my super secret e-mail address. The one I never give out..... gitreal@hotmail.com. Hey, do you know if Hutch invited Sniffles?

would be cool thing for our kids and teenagers to enjoy. Like Muddle and several others mentioned, the joy of an unexpected day off due to ice or snow. My girls were so excited at the prospect as I just hung up with them after telling them goodnight where once again it's about 70 degrees outside with a low of 62 tonight. Perhaps I'll get my own snow day tomorrow causing me to be stranded on the beach in Sarasota. Three or four days oughta do it. Smiling
