I am reading two books right now, both biographies, about Bill Clinton and George H. W. Bush, Sr.
Never, anymore, could you find two more diverse people who both became President of the Unite States.

There are other types of knowledge in the world that are more useful in many cases than parsing words to promote thought.

It seems to me that we need to know precisely who ordered the CIA "water-boarding" tapes destroyed. Maybe they didn't destroy all copies--usually there is some idiot who keeps a copy which to use to write a book eventually.

The entire gratefuldoc family would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and have a Happy, safe, productive and prosperous New Year! Also, I would like to take the time to thank the Gaddy family, the Abernathy family and the family on Cumberland Ct.

Nitpickers: Foolish People

I have been trying to figure out who is the most foolish.
People who want to lug 50 caliber guns around every where they go; people who want the CIA or the military or some foreign country whom we hire, to water-board and torture people that we capture or arrest, that someone deems dangerous or knows something, maybe; regular frequenters to $5.00 coffee shops and possibly $4.50 sugar buns; those people who apparently have a phone glued to one ear perpetually; those phone people who will answer a cell phone while talking to you, or anyone, about decisions needing to be made instantly; people who continue to work for loan sharks and predators, sales and sample people, phone aggravators, who work in TV commercials and night-time and week-end "head on" sellers and such; junk salesmen and women on late TV, those people who type up the hospital bills for the hospital from guessed at information; chain restaurants and the people foolish enough to finance them; people who develop unneeded developments; lawyers; all those people who assist doctors but never treat you--each office usually has 15-20, even eye-doctors; those people who do massages, acupuncture, chiropractic, doctors who carry a jug of freezing stuff and freeze stuff off your face--all they do; about half of the 1500 helpers at a 100 bed hospital who only have 50 people in bed---20 having babies; all those people in cars on a Monday mid morning going where, I don't know--don't they work anywhere?

I Watch: Tyrone Developers Hire Lawyer

High density developers, Olde Town Tyrone, has hired top zoning lawyer Doug Dillard to make their final push for 4 houses to the acre in Downtown. After having been thwarted twice in 2007, they will reapply in early 2008 with new engineering plans on the advice of Attorney Dillard. But, with Barry Amos, Valerie Fowler & Town Atty. Brad Sears still on their side, and all the other problems left by the old Council, the new Council will have their hands full. Although the Council will probably vote against the rezoning, they will not heed past warnings, and the Planning Commission is ill-equipped to deal with Dillard. Procedural mistakes will be made, Dillard will sue and win. Past promises made by Amos to the developers will undermine Tyrone’s legal defense. Once the zoning is in place, sewer will follow, and the citizens will be duped again. Its not that the Council wants all this to happen, its because they will follow poor legal advice and not take individual initiative to learn the true facts from their lawyers.

CIGNA Insurance Story

TyroneConfidential: BRAD SEARS LOSES ZONING CASE

On December 22, the front page of the Tyrone Citizen printed the story "Walker Bros is victorious in lawsuit." The Fairburn City Council had denied walker a business permit. Brad Sears, also Tyrone's Attorney represented Fairburn, arguing that Walker did not follow administrative remedies. That's the same defense he's using in the case of Shelley vs. Tyrone except that Tyrone's Council has denied numerous licenses, when they don't even have a business license law. Tyrone has fraudulently used an Occupational Tax as a Business License. The Citizen Newspaper stated that the case was over before it started. The Judge ruled that Fairburn's actions were a "gross abuse of discretion", again the same complaint in the Tyrone lawsuit. The Judge also noted that Fairburn's Planning Commission presented no studies or facts for the Council to consider. Also, the same problem Tyrone has when they passed Ordinance No. 454. The Judge's ruling now leaves open a damage claim for Walker of Inverse Condemnation, a 5th Amendment taking of land uses without just compensation. The Courts have ruled that the measure of damages extends from the date of taking to the date the decision is ruled void. In Walker's case it is 4 months. In Tyrone's case its 4 years. Tyrone's damages can be computed to over $300,000 to date and increasing every day at the rate of over $6000 per month until Tyrone's Council repeals Ordinance 454; not for just the current lawsuit but for each and every business or property owner denied their land uses.

d.smith700: Nothing goes right in Atlanta!

Bonkers: Reasons make "water-boarding" OK--huh, muddle?

The Columnist, L. Chavez, indicates in this paper that since we were scared after 9/11 and some anthrax was being passed around, that we had a right to torture people that we assumed to be the enemy. Also, many people thought for sure we would be bombed again, etc., right away,
