Atlanta Falcons
I can't seem to read anything, or hear anything, lately without someone blaming the just resigned coach of the Falcons for upsetting the Owner and players!
I don't know if the Florida people who hired him made their offer after he talked to the owner, or not. I see no difference whether they did or not.
If the coach had not signed the agreement yet, he was not assured of a job at that point.
As to the players griping about him quitting with three games to play, there is not a one of them who wouldn't do the same thing if their contract allowed them to to do so, not a one.
Didn't Glavine go to the Mets, for money?
I'll never believe that the coach wasn't advised that he must coach according to what the team wanted if he wanted to stay--to take all the crap the players wanted to hand out, and had been told to protect Vick, before this happened.
The way it was handled, the Falcons now don't have to pay the coach for his contract, and they would have if they had fired him straight out! Who knows if the coach could have gotten a job if he had been fired?
The owner, the team, and show-boating by the players did the coach in--no one wants to coach under those circumstances! He wasn't the boss!
He will be at Arkansas.
