"Merry Christmas" Manly Man and to your family! Did Hutchette get something musical for Christmas? My son had two guitars but he had to upgrade to a better one this year, which I am listening to now- how long will this go on?

I do hope it is for the rest of my life, he is really good at it, he has not had any lessons and he can figure it out himself. What can I expect his Dad loves music, Mom loves music- let say we are a music filled house. So, who do you think Hutchette gets liking music from- anyone in the family?

Is that from "The Life"?

I was in my Ph.D program at UW-Madison in 1988 when Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL) hired me to teach part time. This involved a bus commute twice a week. (Airport bus from Madison to O'Hare, TEDS student picked me up at airport and took me to campus, then the whole thing in reverse.) I discovered Michael Card's stuff during that stint. The music always reminds me of that bus ride, as I would listen with headphones to the CDs.

I always thought his voice sounded like Dan Fogelberg.

Muddle, you are good- It is from "The Life" (which is his best of) in 1988. It's also on 25 Christmas Songs with various artists in 1989- and also on The Ultimate Collection 2006.

Do you have the CD "The Life"?

Michael Card to me has one of the most outstanding voices- but my favorite artist is Russ Taff- have you heard of him-

I found Joseph Song as I said before besides Christmas Hope by Newsong which by the way live in Atlanta Ga. at the moment these are my two favorite ones- their lyrics and they way is sung.

Have you heard of New Song?

Glad to hear someone knows of Michael Card- we saw him several times in concert- part of my husband's radio days.

What is your favorite Christmas song, if you find it- send it please.
Merry Christmas!

btw- I loved Dan Fogelberg.

You asked for my favorite. It's probably this:

In the Bleak Mid Winter

The last line always chokes me up.

Here's another version by the Christ Church choir, Oxford. (I think I know exactly the spot where they are standing.)

(I think I've repaired the link)

Christ Church Choir

And Unto Us a Child is Born by that same Christ Church choir.

This building is beautiful. I can only imagine what the choir sounds like in person with the acoustics as they are. (The banquet hall in the firsdt Harry Potter movie was filmed here, too! Smiling)

We saw Michael Card a couple of times as well, up in Milwaukee and Madison. Very thoughtful music. In addition to being a musician, he is somethikng of a scholar. (I'm trying to think of the New Testament scholar at Bowling Green with whom he studied. Lane?) Once when we saw Michael Card he was accompanied by cellist John Catchings--a very talented man.
