Okay, this post was from "thebeaver". However, some really ugly, hateful posts have been on the blogs from a user whose ID is "beaver". I don't want to accuse. So, I thought I'd ask if they are one in the same. This blog would suggest that they are not.

We bought it and watched it last night after you reminded us of it. Needless to say, I yearn to find a William Wilberforce to get behind today. Until we realize from where we came from, and how precious mankind is to our creator, and become obedient to Him, we will continue to serve ourselves at the expense of others.

There are several movies with this title. Which one are you referring to?

What struck me most about that film is that those British people who had a substantial financial interest in continuing the slave trade eventually understood that their immortal soul was worth more than what they could earn from the sale of human beings.

Footnote: Although slavery and the importation of slaves was abolished in Britain in 1772, it took America until 1863 to be forced into abolition. (The importation of slaves to America was "abolished" in 1808 but slave traders got around it by smuggling slaves in with commodities from the Caribbean and slave-friendly local governments turned a blind eye to the human contraband). But that's a matter for another day.

Agreed: This is a remarkable story about a remarkable man.

I was moved to tears (and don't mind admitting it).
