Justice

Two 17 year old male kids had sex with two girls about 15-16 yeas old, and at separate times.
In the one case the act was filmed by a fellow party goer.
In the case of the other one, the girl became pregnant.
In neither case was any force used and both appeared to be consensual, if illegal.
Now in the former case the male was found guilty and sentenced--later released after serving some time.
In the case of the latter, there doesn't appear to be any indication that the male will be charged with anything.
I don't know how many girls under 17 get pregnant every week in the USA, but it is obviously many thousands. Mostly not by rape.
Rarely is anyone charged, which begs the question as to why some are charged.
So, what are the differences in the two cases cited above?
Well, one was filmed by another party-goer and we were shown what we were told was sex.
The only evidence available in the other case is a pregnancy---no film.
Well, there is some more differences: one was black--one was white, and one was poor and one was rich.
Also, in the latter case the girl was obviously allowed to date privately with the boy.
Any suggestions as to what else may have contributed to the different treatment?
FEAR, maybe?

Did you see the film of what Genarlow and those boys were doing to those girls? Consensual or not, THAT was cruel and unusual punishment, not the sentences that were imposed on them.

good points d.smith, regarding Genarlow Wilson, the black boy who had consensual sex and was thrown in prison.

I was wondering, as I heard about Britney's little sister this week, Jamie Lynn, being pregnant at 16, if her boy-toy will be cuffed and thrown in jail, like Genarlow was. It is not a fair scenario, to treat one male as guilty and another as just "doing what kids may do."

It irritates me that I now have to explain to my two 'tweens' that Zoe 101 is pregnant. What an idiot. She said she was "shocked" that she became pregnant. So much for teaching abstinence. Someone should have taught her about birth control instead!

Also, I noticed that Brittany's Mom has delayed her new book about how to parent! How to get rich might work, however!
Brittany can help her 16 year old sister to raise her kid correctly since she does such a good job!

Ask this Main Street person to please find a less offensive picture. This one showing the evolution fish breeding the Christian fish is way out of line.

Thank you.

It is not the debate to which I protest. It is the offensive picture this person uses. I don't believe Mr. Beverly would allow me to post a picture of my cats mating? Do you?

I do not want to stop the debate. I only want to stop obsene pictures and content from making this site unfit for my grandchildrens viewing.

Thank you

I find a picture of pre-pubescent girls lying on their backs offensive, should they be removed also?

I agree with yardman - that avatar of little girls is weird. What are you implying SD?

I'm calling Cal.

that does not answer the question. Just because you (or I) find something (anything) offensive, is that justifiable grounds for having something banned? Shouldn't it take something more than merely offensive to some particular individual?

Hi, it was great meeting you! Look forward to it again.

I think that if it is suggestive in content, yes it should be removed.

Merry Christmas Yardman

I do agree, but to me what "Main Stream had up I would not want my little pre-schoolers I teach to see that and ask me to explain it to them. I guess it comes down to what The Citizen thinks. This is not my attack on Main Stream.

are you showing the preschoolers these blogs?

That avatar was no more offensive than listening to the evening news or watching the latest sitcom or t.v. drama. Give me a break.

You cry babies need to get a life.

Main Stream Please, you know the answer to that. Ha.

I am saying if a parent is on the blog and they have a little one, and they see it, which if you ever had kids they are a hand full and you could walk away from the computer and what if they saw it. By the way sometimes my friend does leave her 3 & 5 year old with me and yes sometime I am on the computer. I guess I know now, I can't go to this site. You know it was suggestive. Again, we don't have to be harsh.

I like cry babies - I work with them everyday at school and I sure know what a cry baby is- and it's not the people you are referring to.
But, I do enjoy cry babies.

I missed meeting you, do you plan on coming next time. I hope so.

Merry Christmas

I don't find Main Stream's, not Main Street's, avatar offensive in the least.

For someone who's been here less than a month, please don't ask people to change to meet your socially acceptable standards.

Wait until you read what my avatar says.

The poster Main Stream, et al, have been engaged in a lengthly and educational set of posts that were designed to express individual points of perspective of religion. I have found all the contributers of that set of posts to have clear and compelling arguments for their particular points of view.

I would take great offense to anyone attempting to censor someone else's input.

Ironically, what you are requesting from Cal is exactly what the posts are all about.

thanks bad and yardman. I actually tried to change my avatar just now, and the system won't allow me to for some reason. Either Cal wants me to keep it, or I'm in some kind of 'avatar detention'

That was fun. Muddle mentioned having avatar wars at one time... I think it is a creative idea - everyone change their avatar for a day to keep the visuals interesting.

You are missing the point, bad_ptc. Nobody is wanting to censor Main Stream's posts. There's a BIG difference between censoring his posts and censoring his offensive avatar.

If you don't believe me take a look at the site rules.

If you constantly push the envelope with sexual or smutty innuendoes, you will be banned from posting.

IMO, Main Stream's avatar breaks the rules, but I guess we'll see what Cal & Company have to say (if anything). Eye-wink

BTW: too bad you didn't come today. You might have found out that I'm not as horrible as you may think. Eye-wink
