Dave Simmons For Sheriff. A Winner !!!

Dave Simmons for Sheriff will only help make Fayette County a better place to live, work, and play. The man is a proven winner.

Simmons has the backgound, credentials, skills, knowledge, know how - and a proven track record to validate his ability to help get the job done. He has ideas and tenacity; jobs he starts he finishes. Successfully ! The man is a winner.

I first met Dave Simmons when he was a Detroit Police Dept Street Supervisor. I have seen him (deservedly)rise through the ranks in his professional career. I have seen his commitment to the community on a personal basis as we served on committees for a non for profit - for which he rose through the ranks to become President.

Dave Simmons is The Man you want to be your Sheriff in Fayette County. He'll do one heck of a job for the citizens there.

Mr. Simmons as sheriff would be similar to going to a cardiologist who has not practiced in 12 years. I do not care about the education, awards, affiliations, or experience. Anyone from any type of occupation can not help but be rusty after not working in that field for 12 plus years. Again, would you choose a doctor knowing they have not practiced in 12 years????? Not I! Mr. Simmons can not help but be rusty and outdated.

This old guy has been out of the game for 12yrs.

Law enforcement didn't slow down or take a break while he has been on break. I'm sure he is a nice guy, but his "experience" is dated at best. Our current Sheriff is on the streets everyday. We need someone who is relevant and currently fighting crime. We don't need someone with old desk experience.

It will be a tough choice between Barry Babb or Wayne Hannah.

Simmons may have worked well in Detroit, but he doesn't yet know the dynamics in the Fayette County Sherrif's Office (including everything bad and good, scandals and awards). I think the difference between Detroit and Fayette County is large.

Right now, Randall and Company are doing their best to take down the Clayton County (and Fayette County) thugs that are disrupting the peace, but that's because it's an election year.

I'll wait til November before I make my choice.

Randall and company have been fighting the clayton-crime-county battle ever since the pavillion was put in. This is not something new. The fact that we have a tough sheriff and a strong sheriff's dept. is the only reason we have not been completely over-run with crime maggots from clayton.

I forgot the Sherrif's election was in July, not November

for sheriff. Will all Fayette County citizens be able to vote? Even those in PTC or just F'vlle?

I respect your opinion and will most likely vote for whomever you endorse. See how much power you have! Smiling

The Sheriff works for the whole county, we all get to vote.

The sheriff's dept. helps our small police depts. we are in the county so we get to vote.

I will vote for whoever Sheriff Johnson thinks would be a good replacement for himself. It will be a tough choice between Wayne Hannah and Barry Babb. They are both very tough on crime and crimnals(love that).

I'm still thinking Wayne Hannah. Is B.Babb running?

Yes , He is running. He told me so a few weeks ago. I hope he wins this election. I have known Barry for many years , he is a stand up guy!Barry has risen through the ranks , knows Fayette County, and has what it takes to lead the department in the right direction.
He has not put himself in the limelight like some other long time officers, but he has worked under Randall for a long time and I have confidence in him.

As best I can tell, he has no political agenda and he performed well under Randall.

Does this make three deputies running for sheriff?
Where is the "real deputy," Jordan?
Will they do a national search? What does it pay?
How many "unsolved" cases does the sheriff have for the past 10 years?
Are we still growing Mary Jane in houses in Fayette County?
How is Oxycontin and meth distributed here?
Any dog or rooster fights in Fayette?
Has anyone else escaped from the jail lately?
What ever happened to the "Marshal's department?"
I keep hearing people refer to Randall, and whatever Randall says! Who is Randall?
Who supervises the sheriff anyway. The state?
Why is an election necessary to hire a sheriff?
Are they all republicans? Including the deputies?
Can we find anyone named Buford or Pusser or Jackie Gleason to run?
Do they have to be able to read and write?

It is a good day. Nice and bright. I wish it was little warmer but we can't have everything.

About Barry, I think he has indicated an interest, but I don't think he has formally said he will run. It will be a tough choice if he does.

as the election approaches, please let us know more about the candidates so we can stay informed and make a wise choice in July.

Hey, I bought my spouse the 'Skywatchers '08' sky-guide calendar for Christmas and it provides details on daily astronomical events, throughout the year. Have you seen these calendars:

"Jan. 24th About 4 hours after sunset, look for Saturn rising above the eastern horizon. It will be just 3 degrees to the left of the waning Moon"

Submitted by skyspy on Tue, 01/15/2008 - 1:13pm.

Where did you get that calendar? I have not seen it yet, but would love to get one.

As the election approaches I'm sure the Sheriff will make an endorsement. Most people will follow his lead.
