It is a near-perfect spring afternoon down on the farm, and the beetles are buzzing. Piercing an otherwise spotless blue sky is the occasional cellphone tower, an airplane on approach to Hartsfield and the rust-shaded peak of Fayette Community Hospital, the county's tallest building, about a mile south.

Is divorce the unpardonable sin?
By JOHN HATCHER
Religion Columnist

Yes, God hates divorce! Got it. No doubt about. But does that mean that God is eternally and everlastingly mad at divorced people? Has divorce become the unpardonable sin, replacing the sin called blaspheming the Holy Spirit? Does divorce mean that you are forever paralyzed at that point of spiritual growth when you were divorced? Does a divorcee, upon remarriage, infect his/her mate with this eternal sin in much the same way someone who is HIV positive infects everyone with whom he or she has sex?

Santorum's 'gay bashing': Let's take a closer look
By DR. EARL TILFORD

Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), a devout Roman Catholic, sowed the wind to reap a whirlwind when he stated regarding a pending Supreme Court case on the Texas sodomy law, "If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything"

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Diversity: Black, white differ in life experiences

I should like to make a brief commentary in response to the article entitled "'Diversity' is racism's logical pinnacle," by Peter Schwartz.

Gay groups now bashing Santorum also bash ex-gays

Human Rights Campaign's vociferous denouncements of Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) for alleged discriminatory remarks about gays smacks of hypocrisy. This same group that berates others for discriminating against gays itself actively discriminates, against ex-gays.
