SRMC chaplain joins Ebenezer Chaplain Brenda Wallace, the primary chaplain for Southern Regional Health System's Women's Life Center, has been chosen to serve as the assistant pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. Founded in 1886, Ebenezer was a center of the civil rights movement during 1960-1968, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. served as co-pastor. "Brenda Wallace is an outstanding member of our pastoral care team here at Southern Regional. She is serving in a year-long residency in Clinical Pastoral Supervision, where I have the privilege of supervising her work," said Reverend Amy Greene. "Honestly, I learn from her. She is a person of great depth, compassion, wisdom, humor and professionalism. The Ebenezer community is very fortunate to have her added to their team." As assistant pastor, Wallace's assignment is a focus on Christian education and women's issues. "My goal is to build a Christian education program that focuses on health, healing and empowerment," she said. Before her appointment to Ebenezer, Wallace worked at assistant pastor for Oakhurst Baptist Church in Decatur. At Southern Regional, Wallace serves as spiritual counselor for staff and patients in the Women's Life Center. She is also the coordinator for the Living with Loss support group, which offers comfort to families and friends who have experienced a fetal or infant death.
