The three finalists in the search for a new city manager for Peachtree City will be named at Thursday's Council meeting, and there's a chance action will be taken to go ahead and formally approve the first choice for the post, Mayor Steve Brown said.

The identities of the three have been closely guarded, not unsual when dealing with job candidates who often already work in high-profile positions for municipal governments.

The three were interveiwed by the Council on April 5, and several councilmen said immediately after that their minds were already made up. Because of that, the city didn't feel it necessary to prolong the search, said acting City Manager Colin Halterman.

Originally, seven hopefuls were supposed to come interview, but by the time the city got around to scheduling the meetings, four had either taken jobs elsewhere or decided to stay where they were.

The new administrator will replace longtime City Manager Jim Basinger, who retired in September rather than be fired after the Council refused to renew his contract.

In other business Thursday, the Council will again consider a request to refund more than $1,000 in alcohol license fees to a business that never opened. That request was originally heard in March.

Also, the Council will consider the Stormwater Management Master Service agreement, hear a request to aid the county health department fund a misquito control program, and discuss the deadlock in appointing someone to fill the vacancy on the city's Development Authority. In a previous meeting, the council split on nominating a resident to the post, and Brown said the vote remains split.
