The brackets for the state soccer playoffs in all classifications have been unveiled, and although a few slots have yet to be filled, local schools know where they are playing and against whom. Local fans will not have to travel far in the early going, with McIntosh and Starr's Mill hosting first-round action in boys and girls competition. The AAAAA girls tourney starts next Wednesday with 32 teams in first-round matches that include Lee County at McIntosh, Tift County at Starr's Mill, Newnan at Colquitt County and East Coweta at Lowndes. Second-round matches are slated for May 13, with quarterfinals May 17, semifinals May 21, and the championship set for May 24. In AAAAA boys action, the first round is Tuesday. Area matches include Valdosta at McIntosh, Tift County at Starr's Mill, Fayette County at Colquitt County, and Newnan at Lowndes. Subsequent rounds are scheduled for May 12, 16, and 20, with the championship May 23. Sandy Creek is in the girls AAAA playoffs, with a first-round match next Wednesday at Ware County. Dates for subsequent rounds are the same as for the AAAAA girls. The Landmark Christian boys squad is in the AA/A bracket, which has only 16 teams, with a road game against Pacelli May 8. Future rounds will be played May 16 and 20, with a May 23 championship date. Complete brackets in all classifications can be found at http:ghsa.assignor.net.
