The Region 4-AAAAA tennis finals, in both the boys' and girls' divisions, wound up being an all-Fayette affair.

The McIntosh boys team defeated Starr's Mill 4-0 and the Lady Chiefs won 3-1 over the Lady Panthers in Friday's finals at Lovejoy High School. Both schools will go on to the state playoffs, which begin next week.

The Chiefs did not lose a match all week, with scores of 5-0 over Mundy's Mill and 4-0 over Lovejoy leading up to the finals. The Lady Chiefs recorded early-round shutouts as well, 5-0 against Carver and 4-0 against Newnan.

The lineup for the McIntosh boys squad was the same for all three rounds: Phil Van Fossan, Stefan James and Osman Faruqi in singles, with Joe Styga/Hoot Fisher and Patrick Thomas/Quan Li comprising the doubles pairings.

Singles players for the Lady Chiefs in all three rounds were Priscilla Roberts, Rebecca Timmis and Adriane Hodges. The doubles teams were Renae Clarke/Shelby Carlson and Stephanie Daughenbaugh/Lauren Wilde (Kristin Cobb played in Wilde's spot in the finals).

In the boys finals, Starr's Mill was represented by John Esterline, Adam Esterline and Eric Jackson in singles, with Brian O'Keefe/Keith Kowal and Ben Matlaga/Phil Strickland making up the doubles pairings.

For the Lady Panthers, Jenny Shular picked up the school's lone final-round win in singles play, with Shayna Simmons and Gabby Acuna filling the other singles slots. Doubles teams were Lauren Dillon/Kristen Thornton and JoAnna Tolsma/Kitty Ireland.
