Robert Norton Groover II


Robert Norton Groover II, 45, Fayetteville, died April 17, 2003. He was born Jan. 24, 1959 in Baldwin County, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Groover. Services were at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity with the Rev. Father Bob Hudak officiating. Interment was at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Groover, Fayetteville; daughters, Catherine Groover and Mary Groover, Fayetteville, and Charly Elkins, Ellenwood; a grandson, Cody Elkins, Ellenwood; mother, Catharine L. Groover, Morrow; and a sister, Ginny and Greg Voos, McDonough. Merrin August Anderson


Merrin August “Andy” Anderson, 65, Fayetteville, died April 17, 2003. He was born March 26, 1939 in Cook County, Ill. He was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959 aboard a supply ship. He crossed the Atlanta Ocean twice and the Pacific Ocean 24 times. He owned and operated East Point Cabinet Shop for 28 years. He loved fishing the Situk River, Alaska for King Salmon and Dolly Varden Trout with nephew Al Anderson and friend, Eric Wood. He enjoyed studying the Golden Eagles in Alaska. He was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, Hapeville Masonic Lodge, the South Fulton Shrine Club, and the Yaarab Temple, Atlanta. Services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews, the Rev. Gary Parrish, the Rev. Jim Ellison, and the Rev. Dr. Bob Martin officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife of nearly 25 years, Nadine McClain Anderson; sons, Michael Anderson and Douglas Anderson; godson, William Parrish Ellison; special friends, Beth Parrish Ellison and Darwin Melnyk; grandchildren, Lauren Anderson, Sharpsburg, and Jennifer Anderson, Andy Anderson, and Dale Anderson, Morehead City, N. C.; brothers, Richard and Judy Anderson, and Tom Anderson, all of Fayetteville; a sister, Jean Melton, Fairburn; and a nephew, Al Anderson. Margaret McInvale


Margaret McInvale, 84, Tyrone, died April 18, 2003. She was born Aug. 4, 1918 in Arabi, Crisp County, Georgia. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Bill Priester officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include a son, Charles and Cathy McInvale, Tyrone; daughters, Dorothy and Norman Ahlheim, Jacksonville, Fla., and Shirley and Joe Price, McDonough; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. William Herman Webb


William “Bill” Herman Webb, 77, College Park, died April 19, 2003. He was born Dec. 17, 1925 in Hickory, N. C. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II and attended Catawba College, Salisbury, N. C. He was employed with Eastern Airlines for over 40 years until his retirement in 1985. He was an active member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and taught its Fellowship Class for over 10 years. Memorial services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Partridge officiating. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Fisher Webb, College Park; a son, William L. and Ann Hepburn Webb; and a grandson, Andrew Hepburn Webb. Romer Pittman


Romer Pittman, 79, Tyrone, died April 20, 2003. He was born Nov. 12, 1923 in Fulton County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Morris Pittman, and a son, Joel Pittman. Services were at the Tyrone First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. James Burdette and the Rev. William O. "Bill" Priester officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn. Survivors include a son, Ricky and Teresa Pittman, Tyrone; daughters, Vickie Parrott, Tyrone, Tina and Andy Range, and Tabitha and Toney Williams, all of Fayetteville; a brother, Neal Pittman, Union City; a sister, Wanda Grace, Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Pittman, Peachtree City; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Janice Elizabeth Screws


Janice Elizabeth Screws, 61, Fayetteville, died April 21, 2003. She was born Nov. 16, 1941 in Muscogee County, Ga. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Clarence Jett and the Rev. Hugh Kirby officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Survivors include her parents, Montie C. and Anita I. Screws, Fayetteville; a brother, Donald R. and Linda Screws, Fayetteville; a nephew, David W. and Kathy Screws, College Park; a niece, Ginger M. and Alex Cazanas, Duluth; and a great-nephew, Austin Cazanas, Duluth. Agnes Grace Brown


Agnes Grace Brown, 73, Hampton, died April 21, 2003. She was born Oct. 16, 1929 in Fayette County, the daughter of James Wilson and Cora Estelle Johnson Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Hurley W. Brown, and a daughter, Pam Brown. Services were at Pine Grove Baptist Church, south Fayette County, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph N. Kelly and the Rev. Wendell C. Jones officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include children, Buster and Audrey Ogletree, and Terry and Dianne Norton, all of Griffin, and Tim and Brenda Brown, Jimmy and Sandra Raven and Debora Reichert, all of Hampton; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lee and Trixie Williams, Riverdale. Jewel Thomas Powell Jr.


Jewel Thomas “Tommy” Powell Jr., Jackson, Ga., died April 22, 2003. He was born July 10, 1937 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ron Stribling and the Rev. Dr. Henry R. Jones officiating. Interment was at the College Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Betty Powell; children, Dorothy Ann Cleland, Tommy Powell, Sharon Campbell, and Vicki Schneider; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Dale Yates, Mark DeMent, Scott Rosser, and Shane Taylor; brothers, Bill Powell, Terry Powell, and Roger Powell; and sisters, Nancy Barnett, and Kathy Powell. Bradford L. Crain


Bradford L. Crain, 33, Fayetteville, died April 4, 2003. He was born Aug. 3, 1969 in Cleveland, N. C. Memorial services were at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Jennifer Crain, Fayetteville; daughters, Carly Crain and Brooke Crain, Fayetteville; and his mother, Jan Walters, Kings Mountain, N. C. Memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund for his daughters, Wachovia Bank, Peachtree City, in the name of Jennifer Crain, in care of "Memory of Brad Crain." The Cremation Society of the South was in charge.
