Who's whining?
Not Golf View
In your April 23 issue, Martin Poffenberger was given more than one-eighth of a page to vent his opinions on far-ranging issues, concluding by accusing Golf View residents of whining, the very thing I found his "contribution" to be doing. Per Webster, the word whine (OE whinan akin to ON hvina) is defined as: 1. a prolonged high pitched cry usually expressive of distress or pain. 2: a complaint uttered with or as if with a whine. Who is whining? The facts are that last year some residents of Golf View Drive did ask the city authorities for help in calming the traffic on our residential and neighborhood street. When measures were taken, petitions and verbal inputs by outsiders were presented in city council meetings, resulting in the removal of many of the measures put in place. To my knowledge, no organized, continued effort or whining in opposition to the final resolution is being conducted by Golf View Drive residents. In true democratic fashion we have accepted the wisdom of our elected city council's bowing to the will of the outsiders. It seems that Mr. Poffenberger's whining was misdirected. He apparently has an issue with law enforcement. Gloer B. Helmen Peachtree City
