If you're going
to be a reporter for a newspaper, whether weekly or daily, occasionally
you're going to have to endure having your wrist slapped. Not everyone
is going to agree with everything you write and in those instances in
which you make an honest error.
Santorum's
'gay bashing': Let's take a closer look
By DR. EARL TILFORD
Sen. Rick Santorum
(R-PA), a devout Roman Catholic, sowed the wind to reap a whirlwind
when he stated regarding a pending Supreme Court case on the Texas sodomy
law, "If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual
(gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have
the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right
to adultery. You have the right to anything"

Diversity:
Black, white differ in life experiences
I should like to
make a brief commentary in response to the article entitled "'Diversity'
is racism's logical pinnacle," by Peter Schwartz.
Gay
groups now bashing Santorum also bash ex-gays
Human Rights Campaign's
vociferous denouncements of Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) for alleged discriminatory
remarks about gays smacks of hypocrisy. This same group that berates
others for discriminating against gays itself actively discriminates,
against ex-gays.
Chamber
of Commerce letter seeking private meetings draws public criticism
The Chamber's invitation
Mayor
Brown's response
Dear Mr. Hofrichter,
I received your correspondence dated April 16, 2003, regarding your
desire for your committee to meet with local government officials. I
will admit that your proposal is troubling to me.
Councilman
Rapson's response
Dear Mr. Hofrichter,
I am writing in response to your letter dated April 16, 2003, which
I received from you on behalf of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce
Government Liaison Committee last week. While I appreciate your efforts
to improve dialogue between elected officials and the Chamber, I have
concerns with your approach.
Free
market should rule future county land sales
In response to Mike
Loyd's and Al Camp's response to my letter from the week before, I apologize
for the improper English and the chain link fence remark.
Peace
comes through strength, not appeasement
Vladimir Lenin,
who ushered in the age of 20th century communism, once said, "You
probe with a bayonet. If you encounter mush, proceed. If you encounter
steel, withdraw." Lenin's quote would serve as an apt description
of the Bush Administration's efforts to rid the world of groups and
nations that sponsor the development of weapons of mass destruction.

I am a former U.S.

Who's
whining? Not Golf View
In your April 23
issue, Martin Poffenberger was given more than one-eighth of a page
to vent his opinions on far-ranging issues, concluding by accusing Golf
View residents of whining, the very thing I found his "contribution"
to be doing.
Jadon
Steward found not guilty in Fayette assault trial
Be it known that
in June of last year my 17-year-old son, Jadon A. Steward, was falsely
accused and arrested for simple battery and aggravated assault (which
is a felony) by an ex-girlfriend from Peachtree City. This information
was printed in the Fayette Citizen police blotter.
Letter
not intended to impugn Davis or company
On Aug. 7, 2002,
The Citizen published my letter to the editor concerning the candidacy
of Mr. Mike Wheat for election to the Fayette County Board of Commissioners.
