Two
words for
graduates: Be bold!
By JOHN
HATCHER
Religion Columnist
"Let no one
look down upon your youthfulness" was the counsel that one spiritual
sage gave to a younger follower of Jesus Christ. He added, "...
but speech, conduct, love, faith, purity, show yourself an example of
those who believe" (1 Timothy 4:12). That's as good advice as any
I could give the graduating seniors of 2002.

Sacred
vows, sacred cows: Catholics and gays
By DANIEL L. WEISS
Everyone's talking
about the crisis in the Catholic Church. What about the crisis in the
media? Specifically, how can liberal journalists roundly condemn the
Church without harming their sacred cow: homosexuality?

LETTERS
TO THE EDITOR
For
little emergencies, use Fayette's 'little' ER
Finding ourselves
in a real emergency recently in the doctor's office at Fayette Medical
Clinic [in Fayetteville], we had to rush my husband across the way to
the Fayette Community Hospital Minor Emergency Room. They acted swiftly,
competently and professionally to meet my husband's immediate needs.
County
commission misleads us about air pollution severity

to admit that Fayette County has an air pollution problem, even though
state and federal agencies have confirmed that the problem exists and
ranks the Atlanta region as one of the worst in the country.

Best
method to clean the lake is by bucket barge
I have been reading
with interest the recent articles and letters regarding the upcoming
dredging of Lake Peachtree. Let's keep in mind the purpose of this entire
effort is to enhance our water supply, removing silt in order to regain
capacity. In light of the recent boom in local development as well as
the ongoing drought, this dredging project is timely and necessary.
Godfrey:
PTC Council is 'ethically challenged'
The Development
Authority of Peachtree City (DAPC) is appalled at the actions of the
mayor and certain members of the City Council of Peachtree City last
Thursday night. The mayor allowed a non-agenda item to be brought before
the council and voted on with no public comment even though many folks
wanted to voice opposition to their actions.
To
'half-truths, lies,' some reasoned responses
Let me start by
saying I am not related to Peachtree City's new mayor. Almost from the
minute the Peachtree City mayoral election results were announced last
year, Gary Rower and his friends have been issuing a steady stream of
vitriol at the winner, Steve Brown.
How
can Mayor Brown complain about letters?
Peachtree City Mayor
Steve Brown wants all the negative letters to stop. Seems reasonable,
and if anyone should know about negative letters, it would be Steve
Brown, the undisputed king of negative letters.
Thanks
to Brown for stands
Mayor Brown, thank
you for again standing up for the citizens you represent and risking
popular opinion by trying to persuade Peachtree City Council to commit
taxpayers to a lesser dollar option for necessary amenities at the air
show.
