Fayette Teachers Receive Scholarships for Professional Development
Two Fayette teachers are among 22 educators who received scholarships through the Education Excellence Foundation of the National School Supply and Equipment Association (NSSEA). Debbie Dunham and Elaine Johnson of Braelinn Elementary School received the $500 award as part of foundation's 2002 Be Your Best! Teacher's Scholarship Program. The scholarship will be used for both of them to attend a professional development activity. Each year a total of 20 deserving teachers are given scholarships to utilize for training and professional development. This year, several teachers submitted combined applications, resulting in two additional educators being selected as recipients of the award. Teachers that obtained a scholarship application form from NSSEA members and submitted it prior to the March 1 deadline were eligible for consideration. Peachtree Education Station in Peachtree City was the NSSEA member that provided Dunham and Johnson with their application. Members of the foundation's steering committee judged the applications. The scholarships are used by educators to defray the cost of attending professional development courses, seminars, conferences or workshops as well as travel and hotel expenses associated with such activities.
