Spend some time with Tom Sawyer at Sams Auditorium By MICHAEL
BOYLAN Tom Sawyer is the all-American rascal of literature. He gets into mischief with his friend Huckleberry Finn, cons the local boys to do his chores for him and has run-ins with the evil Injun' Joe. Mark Twain's tales of Tom Sawyer are beloved by many. Now there is an opportunity to enjoy Tom Sawyer even more as Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre presents "Tom Sawyer: An American Legend" at Sams Auditorium this weekend. The show is a musical that is fun for the whole family. The entire town of Hannibal, Missouri, will be there including Tom; Huck; Tom's romantic interest, Becky Thatcher; Tom's brother, Sid; his cousin Mary and his aunt Polly, as well as many others. The show runs approximately 90 minutes and there will be a 15-minute intermission. During intermission audiences will have an opportunity to visit Tom and Huck's General Store for some fishin' down at the creek, face painting and some country souvenirs to remember their time spent in Hannibal. "Tom Sawyer: An American Legend" will take place Thursday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 25, at 3 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 26; at 3 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 and are available at the Peachtree City and Fayetteville libraries, by phone reservation at 770-251-7611 or via the FCFT Web site at www.fcft.net. Tickets at the door will be $8 and will be available starting 45 minutes prior to each performance. |
