Students place at regional recitation competition

Three Fayette students brought home honors from the 2002 Griffin RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency) Literary Contest.

Kelsey Langworthy of Rising Starr Middle School won first place for sixth grade. She recited Ernest Thayer's "Casey at the Bat." Caroline Portwood, also of Rising Starr Middle, won third place for seventh grade for her presentation of Alfred Noyes' "The Highwayman" and Lauren Burkhart of Flat Rock Middle School won third place for eighth grade. She recited Roald Dahl's "The Three Little Pigs."

These students were selected to represent Fayette County after first winning their class and school recitation competitions and receiving the highest score in their grade level during the county's 2002 Recitation Festival.
