KCW56: Voting in the 2008 Georgia Elections

In the state of Georgia, you do not have to declare a party (Democrat / Republican) affiliation when you register.

The only time you need to choose a party affiliation, Democrat or Republican is during a primary election - i.e. Presidential Preference Primary, which was held on February 5, 2008, or the Local Primary Election, which will be held on July 15, 2008. When you arrive to vote you will have to select the ballot of the party (Democrat or Republican) that you wish to cast your vote for.

williammuddy: Good Sunday Morning

I hope to see you all in church.

sageadvice: What will developers do?

Anything they are allowed to do. It is not their job to look out for us and the future.

As an example as to what they will do, one only needs to look at the flooding situation along the Mississippi River this year--in fact right now.

loanarranger707: If I voted today, here’s who I’d vote for and why

It’s probably lucky I am not called upon to vote today, because I feel ill-informed, but whose fault is it if I’m ill-informed?

sageadvice: The School Year

It should be two days after Labor Day until very late May.

That leaves three months in the heat of the summer for kids to go another quarter and make up failures or have special classes. Also Teachers can go to College for further education, or get a job.

sageadvice: Why don't we hire them?

All of them being fired and laid off?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to work them some instead of giving them unemployment pay?

TinCan: Phonebook recycling

TinCan's picture

Does anyone know of a phonebook recycling facility closer to PTC than the county transfer station? Hate to burn a couple, well maybe one, gallon(s) of gas to toss a few phone books and always feel guilty when throwing them in my regular garbage.

ddodge: Police Truck??

Notice that on tonights council agenda is the possible purchas of an F-250 police truck. Why do we need this and why pur

karma: Mike & C's in PTC

I know exactly what you all are talking about. Both Mike & C's restaurants have gone dramatically down hill. The blog that states that the owner was not the same at Shadows at the end is TOTALLY false. Mike owned it, sold it yes, but took back ownership and he was the owner towards the end of Shadows. I know for a fact that Mike & C's has received failing health inspections yet for some reason those inspections have yet to be posted on the Fayette site. The Fayetteville location has just recently changed hands but still maintains the Mike & C's franchise name. It all falls to the same person in charge who is taking a good concept to the dumps. Won't eat there again and I know alot of others doing the same. Needs a good cleaning and new ownership.

Jo Anne: Fayette County Board of Education

Can someone tell me why students are denied the change of schools? I applied for my daughter to continue to attend Bennett's Mill Middle for her 8th grade year becasue we just moved to the Whitewater Middle district.

KCW56: Attention: The Citizen-Cal Beverly

I have the case numbers for two incidents that I want a reporter to investigate. 1. Case # 0805101, the air-conditioners that were stolen from Liberty Baptist church, June 11th from 10pm-7am. Valued at $60,000.

sageadvice: Oil price fixing

Well, it appears that once gas reached over $4 a gallon here, Mr. Bush goes to the microphone and says now it is time to drill oil holes everywhere possible---that the current price is due to democrats for so long not letting his oil buddies drill more!

sageadvice: CRCT scores Fayette---Clayton

About 4% of Fayette schools failed the test except for math which was 8%.

About 20% of Clayton schools failed the test except one which was 40%!

Is the test too hard for the grade taking it?
That is all we need to know.
If they can;t pass, then they shouldn't have been in that grade!

GiveMeABreak4507: Dave Simmons', numbers, and the Art of Scaring People Needlessly

Let me see... 22 more burglaries in the first quarter of 2008 over 2007 for all of Fayette County. WOW 81% increase...

ConfushaSay: Tyrone Vote Buying Complaint Dismissed Today

The Secretary of State dismissed the complaint of Mark Darrow and Mike Smola against Mayor Rehwaldt as not illegal.

Ex Councilman Smola was visibly agitated by the decision, telling the Judges that if it was not illegal then he was going home and make up discount coupons for President of the U.S.

Kevin Wandra: Reminiscing about sports cards

Kevin Wandra's picture

I have written before about, when I was younger, spending a copious amount of time collecting and trading baseball, football, basketball and hockey cards. I cannot even begin to fathom the exorbitant money I spent on those special pieces of cardboard.

lLynda Owens: Comment on Salary

Good morning everyone. My name is Lynda Owens and I work for the wonderful citizens of Tyrone in the Recreation Department. There has been a recent blog from someone (I can't remember the name...it might have been someone called suggarfoot???) Forgive me if I have it wrong. But the blog said that I was a recreation director and wanted to know what benefits I had and for someone to please check it out. I would like to set the record straight. I am not a director. I am the ASSISTANT to the COORDINATOR of the Recreation Department. No director exists. I make ZERO benefits. Except for I get to work for Tyrone...which is a benefit. I invite any and all who doubt this to check with the Town Hall and verify the above. I thank you for your time and allowing me to serve you.

boo boo: Ross Perot is Back

Ross Perot has a web site. Perotcharts.com
Very interesting web site.

sageadvice: The New Citizen Forum, by category

Doesn't appear to be catching on swiftly. However, considering the action on the blogs which are running poorly, maybe it should not be expected to flourish!

did Cy really go on vacation to the beach; or did he actually visit Boulder, Colorado and join the naked cyclist's protesting high gas prices?!? What a funny article and video!

sageadvice: Eurorica

We are trying our best here in the US now to mimic the Euro work ethic.
By that I don't necessarily mean those few who pretend to work longer hours than most. They do, in some instances, spend more time on the job---but produce little while at it.
