Linda Wells says.....

when she qualified to run for the office of tax commissioner that "I've always been concerned with keeping taxes low and spending tax dollars efficiently". It's fair to ask Linda Wells to explain these comments in light of her record on the board of commissioners for wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars suing the sheriff and municipalities in Fayette County, knowing beforehand that the suits could not be won. And please, Linda Wells, explain what input the tax commissioner has in establishing property values in milage rates, the only components of a tax bill. Oops, my bad, everyone knows the tax commissioner has nothing to do with the amount of a tax bill.

Linda Wells says a lot BUT most of what she says is false. She is notorious for being negative - always putting her opponent down and skewing the truth. She is doing it this time, as she did in her last bid for re-election. Last night at the Meet the Candidates in PTC she spoke about how unhelpful the staff was in the Tax Commissioner's office - That is totally false - everytime I or anyone I know have been in that office, Mr. Wingo and the staff do everything possible to help. I would like to know why she thinks the only way to run a campaign is to put her opponent down - I, myself, am tired of the way she works.

Abales,

I was there too. I did not hear what you heard at all. What I heard Wells say was that she wanted to train existing staff to become senior advocates (her term from her literature) for the increasing numbers of senior who are doing business with the Tax Commissioner. She said something to the effect that she wanted easier to read forms, and special handling for seniors and the disabled. She said that seniors had trouble with the forms and were reluctant to ask questions. She said nothing about the staff not being helpful.

You obviously have a condition known as selective hearing. Everybody who was at that event heard how negative Linda was being. She specifically called out the current staff stating that they were not "service oriented".
