I need a little help understanding the fuss over the scores of recent CRCT tests.

Although somehow the majority qualified to be passed to the next grade, there were too many who did not. The State Superintendent said the reason was that a new test was applied.

We won, didn't we? I hear that on FOX.

OK, since it is won, did we ever get all of the HUMVEES properly armored and enough of them built? If so, are they now so heavy for any other use we will simply give them to the Iraqi army?

I recently had an exchange on this site about the upcoming election concerning voter turnout for the Republicans. Someone, who will remain unnamed because I don't want this to seem like a post directed towards this person, said that voter turnout has never been a problem for Republicans and won't be this election either. I would like for those who see this post to go the web address I put at the bottom of this post and compare the voter turnout in this year's primaries compared to years past and tell me if you think such are sharp increase in participation, more so among Democrats than Republicans, will make a difference this year. I really think it will, and I think it will favor the Democrats. Try to direct your comments towards the numbers and not t my opinion. I'm interested to see what others think.

Can somebody clarify something I was told by my daughter on Saturday.

My daughter went to the Whitewater graduation ceremony with some of her friends on Friday evening and said that when it was time for each student to recieve their diplomas, they actually announced the students names by class rank. I was truly taken aback by this.

There is supposed to be a Air Force fly over Monday at the Braves game with our very own Kevin "Hack" King as one of the pilots.

Has anyone noticed that Friedman’s Jeweler’s has their guys with signs of “going out of business” at the corners of the Pavilion? I can understand Radio Shack and maybe Goody’s but Friedman’s? I also heard recently yet unverified, that Belk’s will be closing the doors soon. Has anybody out there heard as to why Friedman’s and maybe Belk’s are closing?

I sometimes read Cal Thomas' syndicated column. Hardly ever agree with the majority of what he says. He makes his living generally writing stuff that a certain large number of citizens want to hear. He seldom varies that mind-frame.

Why teach logic if the test at the end has exactly the same questions as were answered in the classroom?
For instance: If A=B and C=B then A=C.

We have no economy that is destined to survive! It is based upon "service," serving one another for exorbitant fees.

I read most of the local newspapers and glance at the big ads.
With the exception of car dealer ads and of course food ads, I have never seen as much advertising by Realtors before.

Those loud horns (foghorns??) that you all blow during graduation.....we know that you're excited when you hear your child's name being called, but sometimes, when you extend "the blowing" we can't hear the next child's name being announced! That's not really fair to that particular student or their family. So, keep that in mind for next year. A short toot is fine and dandy, but the long ones have to stop!

Please take time during this long weekend to remember the sacrifices that many have made for our country.

As I take a glance in this weeks The Citizen articles; Most new residents come from Clayton, Fulton, New target of thieves; Catalytic converters; Convicted robber arrested in Pavilion drug chase May 16, Gunshots hit house; F’ville police probe; Smash and grab burglary at Radio Shack, Sheriff’s race marred by vandals stealing signs; Who’s responsible for stealing Simmons’ signs?, To maintain Fayette Pavilion’s viability, inevitable crime must be contained; Local DFCS board at odds with region officials on investigations; It’s NOT OK to hurt pets; Police Reports from last week that are on the rise. These articles should be alarming to us Fayette residents. I do not shop at the Pavilion, or dine at the Pavilion. Forget about Tinseltown and Cinemark 10 at night, absolutely not.

Well, another school year is over (thank goodness) and I know several Seniors (and Parents)who will take the walk tonight. I may not see you but know that I am happy for the Seniors, and know your Parents are very proud of you. This will be a busy weekend with all of the parties, be safe, have a great time, and enjoy the break. For the Senior Parents that I am friends with, take lots of pictures, tissues to graduation, and soak it all in. I did this last year, and will do so again in 2010 (yay)!

When I voiced my opinion about the tattoo parlor in The Citizen I was drawn and quartered on this site. So, who has the last laugh now? Believe me, I would rather have been wrong.
