WHS Commencement Ceremony

Can somebody clarify something I was told by my daughter on Saturday.

My daughter went to the Whitewater graduation ceremony with some of her friends on Friday evening and said that when it was time for each student to recieve their diplomas, they actually announced the students names by class rank. I was truly taken aback by this.

If this is in fact true, does anyone find anything wrong with this? I mean, I would be all for announcing the top 10% of the class first to celebrate their achievement, then going by traditional alphabetical order after that. Sorry, if they went strictly by class rank is just flat out wrong.

How humiliating for some students on one of the greatest days of their lives, to be humiliated in front of a few thousand people who are all now well aware that they graduated at or near the bottom of their class.

Perhaps the those whined about their positions should have applied themselves a bit more in the past and then perhaps they too could have been recognized as being academic leaders.

Under your rules, I presume we should eliminate the World Series, the Super Bowl and the Final Four as to not offend anyones losing sensitivities. Puzzled

Mind telling me how ALL of the class could have been recognized as the best? Won't there always be the high, the middle, and the low?
I expect that if a certain group there were suddenly at the top, and those at the top now were at the bottom, we would be looking into it!

We should eliminate all sports playoffs. Basketball is a comedy with the playoffs as long as the season. The champions have already been decided! It is like rasslin---strickly fer thu money!

Do you really think the Atlanta Hawks almost beat the Celtics?
It was fixed.

Can't ever happen can it? But, in the name of fairness perhaps I think a level playing field should be implemented so guys like you and I can stand on the sidelines at Turner field and have our turn playing with the Bravos. I'd like to stand in a couple games for Chipper so I could hearn my name called. I can hear them now chanting Gitter.... Giiiittttterrr.....

Hawks? Didn't they used to be in Atlanta?

Val and Sal received their diplomas first. The student executive board for the 2008 graduating class followed. Honor students in alphabetical order and then the rest for the graduates, again in alphabetical order.

I know Sandy Creek gives the Val and Sal their diplomas first and then continues with the ceremony alphabetically.

Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing the honor graduates called first and then the normal graduates called second.

"Triangle Park"? Give me a break.
They should have fixed Shamrock first.

Those with honors are first and then the rest.
