Paul Perkins: Courage from the Chairman of the Commissioners

Paul Perkins's picture

Having a overall distrust of all elected officers, I found it refreshing reading the link below where Chairman Smith answered the charges being made about the county's budget.

sageadvice: Murders and Bank robberies!

Did anyone notice how many cops were around the Red Room location this past week-end at night?
Usually when a bank is robbed around here there will be at least 30 cops at that location for a day or two to show interest. The robber may still be in the bushes!

sageadvice: Meeting for Rum and Coke and discourse

I suggest that many on here set up a meeting every other Friday night at the Red Room Bar and Saloon in PTC.

A cover charge for the R & C will be necessary, collected at our table, of $35, and will cover the first Five drinks for each person. Records will be kept by the DDs.

Margot: Letter to Ex-Tyrone Mayor Sheryl Lee

Dear Sheryl Lee: Valerie Fowler Caldwell said at the public Council Hearing on June 10, 2008 that you authorized Valerie to pay herself $14,000 and Barry Amos $22,000 in November 2007 for vacation pay. Is this true?

Margot: Tyrone Guilty of Violating Open Meetings Act.

Dekalb County is under fire for voting in secret executive session just like Tyrone. The Atlanta Journal reported Saturday 7-12-08 that the GA. Open Meetings Act requires all votes by a public agency to be public. Dekalb Commissioners routinely hold secret votes on litigation, then say the lawyers said it was legal.

By 2050 solar power could end U.S. dependence on foreign oil and slash greenhouse gas emissions. LINK

sageadvice: Two sue Dexter!

If MLK had made it, I suspect that all of this money from the sale of his papers would not have existed.
Without him, the papers money has ruined his children since they apparently were raised to be dependent upon the legacy and not themselves.

AF A-10: REST IN PEACE TONY SNOW!

AF A-10's picture

This man fought the the good fight, and was very good at what he did. He leaves behind a wife and children whom he tried , in his last year on Earth, to leave in a position that would meet all of their future needs. Conservatives and Liberals; Republicans and Democrats; we have all lost a friend today. Rest in Peace Brother!

sageadvice: Odd, I think!

All I can see, hear or feel lately says that home foreclosures and those about to be foreclosed on are at record numbers in many places.

leonardtucker: Regarding the Sheriff's race and recent forum

I read with great interest what some of the candidates had to say. I was concerned that Mr. Hannah chose NOT to answer the question about crime in Fayette County.

sageadvice: MONDAY!

If you wake up Monday the owners of Fannie May and Freddie Mack in addition to Bear-Stearns and others, then do not be surprised.

sageadvice: Why Free Speech and Letters avoided

Even though more ads appear to have been sold for recent papers than at this time last year, the number of sheets of newsprint are about the same each week.

sageadvice: CA bank taken over today!

A rather large CA bank was seized by the Fed because depositors were demanding their money, now.
The bank said that they could have maybe 5% since they had loaned the rest.

sageadvice: Starbucks and Red Room

If ever as many as five form a sad group
By attending a Starbucks occasionally
Then to Red Room they will go in a loop

snotrocket: elections

I will be glad when the elections are over. As a member of Fayette County Law Enforcement, I can say the departments are devided.

sageadvice: Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac

How many of you "conservatives" out there will object to the federals taking over the two subject companies to save the rear-ends of the stockholders of those companies? Also, if they go under with 5 trillion dollars worth of mortgages, then much else will also fail.

KCW56: Simmons and the truth

Dave Simmons has been under brutal attack and scrutiny since Jan. when he started campaigning for his candidacy as the next Fayette County Sheriff. Only until this week, Cal decided that he needed to stop such negative, slanderous comments when the other 3 were being attacked so viciously. Thanks Cal, but this really should have been done months earlier.

wildcat: Need a bed extender

Does anyone know where I can find one? Locally? I found one at Harbor Freight (online) but don't have the time, or gas money, to drive to Macon to get it. I found another one at some truck place in Jonesboro but they wanted $159 and the same thing at Harbor Freight is $29. I really don't want to pay the extra. If I don't find one I have to choose between taking my kayak or taking luggage (for six). Guess which will go? ha ha

THE BOSS: Sheriff’s race,

THE BOSS's picture

Yes I have been and always will be one of the most critical people of the FCSO, but.

What people seem to forget is the fact that the employees of the FCSO are the ones who on a daily bases make this department the great department that it is. These are the individuals that are paying for this election. It’s hard trying to do your job but yet stay neutral and politically correct in an election year, what a tough position to be in.

strongside: ASHAMED OF DEPUTIES

As a longtime citizen of Fayette County, I am severly disappointed and ashamed of how the deputies are handling themselves and representing the Sheriff's Department during this election. The amount of interdepartmental bickering/backstabbing that has been displayed on this website, makes one want to puke!!!!!! The big picture is that everyone should work to support the taxpayers of Fayette County.

sdg: A funny video but what's is Jesse's point?

sdg's picture

This video (LINK) is making the rounds but it's really hard to understand what Jackson, who raised millions, under the auspices of a faith-based organization has against Obama's position on this.

sageadvice: Girls of Red Room

Just how lonely and foolish does one have to be to attend an alcoholic bash that lasts all night and includes all races from out of town?

Save Fayette: The FACT by Chairman Jack Smith

The FACT is --- Some want to gain lost power by Distorting FACTS.
Read the Fayette Daily, Thursday July 10th all of my questions have been answered.

Christian: My family is voting for Rudjard Hayes!

Christian's picture

Mr. Hayes will be a VERY aggressive and STRONG District Attorney and will definitely scare criminals away from this circuit, which is just what we need here!! Nevertheless, Rudjard is a very kind and considerate person that has perfomed many volunteer activities in this community.

AF A-10: BLOGGER COFFEE BASH 12 JULY AT TIME AND PLACE OF OUR CHOOSING!

AF A-10's picture

Hi guys! I sense that now is a good time for us all to get re "grounded" (get it?) with a coffee get together, to remember that we are all on the same team. Saturday 12 July between 0800 and 1200 works for me; hwy 85 Starbucks near Publix and Chic-fil-et or Hwy 54 Starbucks on East side of PTC near Publix. Please comment on a locale and time, and we can make a consensus call by friday early pm. Hope to see ALL WHO CARE to meet their fellow blogger bots there. And remember; so far no blood has been spilled and no tempers have been lost; doesn't mean there can't be a first time Eye-wink

Save Fayette: Robert Horgan

I just wanted to write and ask readers to vote for more men like Robert Horgan. Robert was one of the only elected officials to attend the recent National Day of Prayer event which packed out the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville.

ConcernedCitizen2: Scott Ballard vs. Rudjard Hayes

For several months, I have followed the campaign for the July 15th Republican primary nomination for Fayette County District Attorney. Through my observations, I have observed how Mr. Scott Ballard’s platform primarily focuses on citizens who grew up the Fayetteville and Peachtree City areas. Based on Mr. Ballard’s campaign slogan
