BLOGGER COFFEE BASH 12 JULY AT TIME AND PLACE OF OUR CHOOSING!

AF A-10's picture

Hi guys! I sense that now is a good time for us all to get re "grounded" (get it?) with a coffee get together, to remember that we are all on the same team. Saturday 12 July between 0800 and 1200 works for me; hwy 85 Starbucks near Publix and Chic-fil-et or Hwy 54 Starbucks on East side of PTC near Publix. Please comment on a locale and time, and we can make a consensus call by friday early pm. Hope to see ALL WHO CARE to meet their fellow blogger bots there. And remember; so far no blood has been spilled and no tempers have been lost; doesn't mean there can't be a first time Eye-wink

Cheers,

Hack

ps. Carbon, sorry for being so hard to get a hold of. Hope to meet you and family there!

I missed it! I was late, SO LATE leaving, and I didn't get there till 12:30. I wasn't the driver so I didn't get to control how often we stopped, or when we left. I was just about in tears. I just got home from Fayetteville. Devan's memorial service was gut wrenching. I'm drained.

great spirits had by all. Carbon, it was a pleasure meeting you. Hack, it was a pleasure meeting your boys and seeing you and your wife again. Yard, take some time off from that job. Smiling Hutch, you old goat, they need you at band camp. Sniffles, good seeing you again. Now, about that avatar. Sorry I had to run early.

To the rest, where were you????

I enjoyed our gettogether as well. I even got used to that rather compost-y smell wafting from yardman's direction!

Yardman and Cyclist, you missed some last minute fireworks. This cute little thing with a 100-watt smile came up to our designated babe-magnet (Hutch) and asked him "Hin Hah Yoon Car KENTUCKY?" Ole Hutch must've had a bit too much caffeine because he froze like a deer in the headlights. For one brief shining moment I thought this might be the ever-elusive SouthernBelle, but I doubt Belle's accent was THAT thick!! Hutch asked her to repeat herself but she wasn't much better the second time "Hin Hah Yoon Car Kentucky?" She had another girl join her and they both looked like they were mentally undressing the Hutchster.

We finally figured out that she was asking Hutch if he had the car with all the Univ. of Kentucky stickers all over it. I've heard that particular pickup line before so I excused myself so Hutch could work his magic.

I'm not THAT bad with my accent, but I understood what the girl said just by what you typed!! I have family that talks like that. I really wish I had gotten there. I was excited to meet you all. I will have to make a special trip next time. I'll drive through hurricanes next time, because you know, its totally smart to drive through severe storms just because you have working windshield wipers. You'll have to give me about a weeks notice, and CALL ME if I'm not there when I say I will be, I wish someone had called me, I could have been placed on speaker phone or something!!! I didn't have anyone's number or I would have called.

I don't know why so many of you avoid meeting your on line sparring partners face to face; you're all missing a dang fine bi-partisan group of people. Nice meeting you Carbon, and nice seeing the usual suspects again. Hutch, don't think I didn't see the tan lines Smiling To all who avoided the caffeine and company, I encourage you to ignore all feelings of trepidation next gathering and come be pleasantly surprised.

I'll be heading out by 06:00, I am NOT a morning person. Which Starbucks are we talking about? The one by the Publix and Ingles and Kroger, or another one? To even imagine that a group of people could get together in friendship and for good intercourse. Oops, guess I shouldn't have used that word--Sage will be branding us all a bunch of sexual deviants! Let me rephrase it: A group of people getting together in friendship and for good conversation. I think it is a wonderful idea and if only two people make it that will still be great. Hope I can make the next one. Have one black with one sugar for me -- and perhaps just one little cookie or sweet roll?

Things are falling into place, painfully slowly, but falling into place nonetheless. We've moved to Hinesville, a little outside of Savannah. I love it here. There's still a lot of caring within the community, and that's what I was missing from my life. When you grow up Army you get used to having a very close-knit community. Then, without warning, you get thrown out into the real world, where that is rarely found any more. How have you been?

Just saw this.

We've just arrived home after a nice trip to Florida and Savannah. Thanks for the good wishes.

The only stinker in all of this is that today's surf photos of Cocoa Beach show PERFECT waves for a 51-year-old arthritic man who is trying to reclaim some semblance of youth--3 to 4 foot and glassy, the result of Hurricance Bertha passing by to the east. It was the same when I was a kid: "Should've been here yesterday, dude."

We'll be back at Emory on Wednesday for a scan, and are hoping for the best.

Do me a favor and run by Johnny Harris's and pick me up a six pack of the Carolina mustard sauce, for some reason none of the stores around here carry it anymore. Have a good time there in Savannah, what a great city.

Hey, man. I just checked out the location. It's on Victory Drive--very easy from where we are. After consulting the lady to whom you (and Git and Cy) brought flowers, the plan is to swing by and grab some sauce. Cool? Guess we'll have to negotiate the drop off.

Ok, man. We stopped by Johnny Harris's and got the stuff.

Nice people. They wouldn't allow me to pay retail. I told the lady at the restaurant counter that I was only there to buy sauce. She reached for one but then I said "A six pack." She stood back up and said, "Can I give you some advice? Go around to the back to the office, ring the bell, and the lady there will sell it to you cheaper than up here."

So I went around back and rang the bell. The lady let me in and I said, "Hey, I would like to buy a 6-pack of Carolina Mustard Sauce." She said, "Can I give you some advice? You can get a whole CASE cheaper than you can get a six-pack."

So I bought a case of 12, and it was indeed cheaper than a 6-pack. 6 of these are yours. The rest? Well, she also offered me some advice on recipes, etc.

Will be in touch.

Outstanding, I don't know if you have ever tried their sauce, but it is very good. Have a good time and a safe trip home.
