School board, county follow PTC lead in boosting property taxes

Any way you slice it, Fayette County taxes are going up.

Like other local governments, Fayette County's Board of Education will keep some of the excess revenue generated by property reassessments and give the rest back to the taxpayers.

Tim and Lauren Wienmaster, a Southern Gospel duo, will perform in concert Sunday morning, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m.at His House Community Church in Fayetteville. The church meets in the American Legion log cabin on Ga. Hwy. 85, just south of the courthouse. Pastor is Dr. Knox Herndon.

Interdenominational Bible study classes offered at PTC UM

The Peachtree City United Methodist Church will offer "Community Bible Study," an interdenominational Bible study class, beginning Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Newnan Presbyterian Church will offer a special Sunday school class for singles called "Singles on the Square," beginning Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9:45 a.m. Open to all single, divorced or widowed men and women, the nondenominational class will offer topics related to "Celebrating Singleness." Class leader is Dr. Walter Skinner from Central Baptist Church. Ages of those in the present group range from 30s to 60s.
