Put on your party hat and light the candles. DixieLand Fun Park in Fayetteville is celebrating its 10th birthday and you get the presents.

Birthday Party Weekend will be Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22-24 with Saturday morning being the highlight of the event. Beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, DixieLand will offer free rides, games and attractions for 93 minutes, then free birthday cake will be served to guests. During this time, DixieLand will host a live radio broadcast by J93.3 FM, Atlanta's Christian radio station. Radio personalities will give away prizes and talk with guests live on the air.

Helping DixieLand celebrate the big "one-O," officers with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services will have vehicles on hand for children to look at, and officers will talk to children about being safe.

A Sheriff's department DARE car will be included in the lineup.

Also, the Safe Kids Coalition will have a voluntary car seat safety check to help parents be sure their children are properly secured.

To help raise money for local charities, a huge Beanie Baby sale also will begin at 10 a.m., featuring more than 1,000 genuine Ty Beanie Babies.

At noon, the Fayette Flyers will perform a free air show for DixieLand's guests at the park's new Lake Pavilion. Radio-controlled aircraft ranging in wingspan from 55 to 75 inches will take to the skies, performing loops, rolls, spins and other exciting aerobatic maneuvers. Fayette Flyers is a Peachtree City-based club dedicated to building and flying model aircraft. Currently, the club has a roster of more than 100 members.

The fun actually begins at 4 p.m. Friday as the park opens with free drawings and prizes. From 5-10 p.m., $15 arm bands will allow guests to enjoy unlimited attractions and 10 arcade tokens. Sunday, guests who purchase ticket packages of 10 or
more will receive 25 free arcade tokens.

All weekend, guests will have the opportunity to enter free drawings for daily prizes, and all entrants will be eligible for the Birthday Party Weekend grand prize, which includes 50 DixieLand attraction tickets ($150 value) and a DixieLand T-Shirt.

Prizes will be awarded every hour at different rides and attractions, including both Dahlonega Challenge miniature golf courses, all three go-cart tracks, the bumper boat pond and the two-story Laser Duel arena.

When DixieLand Fun Park first opened in 1990, it began with a single miniature golf course, which still operates today. After 10 years, DixieLand has grown to become the largest family amusement park of its kind in south Atlanta.
