After a fairly disappointing run at the Darlingotn-Berry Invitational, the McIntosh Lady Cheifs are back on track. They won the Championship division at the Carrollton invitational this past weekend with an overall total of 81 points. Lakeside placed second with 97 points, while Fayette County placed 16th and Sandy Creek placed 19th.

The Lady Chiefs had a solid pack with Dana Van Winkle placing 11th with a time of 20:39, Elizabeth gardner placing 12th with a time of 20:44 and Judy thomasson placing 13th with a time of 20:53. Mary Katherine Crofton placed 20th in a time of 21:12, while Morgan Cunningham placed 25 in a time of 21:19. Megan Spencer placed 33rd with a time of 21:50 and Tian Paone placed 40th with a time of 22:05. The McIntosh girls will send their top runners to Charlotte this weekend for a race against the top programs in the country, while the second tier of runners and the boys will travel to Sandy Creek for the Sandy Creek Invitational.

Sandy Creek's Rae Lynch had the highest finish for local runners, placing fifth with a time of 20:13. Fayette County had sev
eral finishers in or close to the top 100 with Jessica Tyre placing 14th with a time of 21:00, Amy Eller placing 91st with a time of 23:33, Margaret Sams placing 105th with a time of 24:06 and Rachel Swafford placing 114th with a time of 24:27. Sandy Creek's Mandi Harrington placed 123rd with a time of 24:52.

The Fayette County boys ran in the championship division and placed fourth overall with a score of 167. Trey Alverson placed 7th with a time of 16:45, Blake Riley finished 27th with a time of 17:42, and Johnathan Riley finished 34th with a time of 17:48. Adam Pekarske finished 46th with a time of 18:02, while John Miklus finished 53rd with a time of 18:07.

The Landmark boys ran in the Championship Division, and competed well, finishing 8th overall. LCS was the only Class A school in this division and ran almost the same team time as they ran at the Berry Invitational last week. This course was considerably tougher than the one at Berry. Clark Rivers finished 9th overall in a time of 16:53. Finishing in order were: Blake Fertitta: 17:05, Eric Sumner: 17:40, Joseph Register: 18:22, Johnathan Best: 18:42, and Scott Emery: 19:22.

The McIntosh boys placed 11th overall. They had good performances from Shaun Emery, who
finished 18th with a time of 17:25, Randy hutchinson, who finished 40th with a time of 17:55 and Ben Brantly, who finished 70th with a time of 18:26. Ian Hardy placed 74th with a time of 18:30, Charlie Gonzalez placed 89th with a time of 18:43 and Tony Luciano placed 96th with a time of 18:47. Clint Adams rounded out the top seven runners for McIntosh, placing 118th with a time of 19:07. Many of the McIntosh runners have dropped at least 30 seconds from their previous time on the Carrollton course. This is important as the Carrollton course will host the state meet.

The Landmark varsity girls cross cross country team competed in the varsity divsion at the Carollton Invitational. This very dedicated group of young ladies competed fiercely Saturday as they attacked this challenging course in Carrollton. LCS came in 12th overall in the Varsity Division, improving their time from the easier Berry course a week earlier. Finishing in order, these great ladies are: Mellissa Register, 9th overall in: 22:46, Courtney Piribek: 24:49, Mary Michael Joiner: 25:42, Sarah King: 26:09, Kate Bailey: 27:39, Meredith Gable: 31:05, Layla Constable: 32:21, and Andrea Wooding: 33:19.
