Starr's Mill swept ninth-ranked Whitewater 25-17, 25-10 and unranked Northgate 25-13, 25-20 in Area 3-AAAA action Tuesday at the Panther Pit in Fayetteville. Cross country teams get started at BerryThe annual Clara Bowl was held at Berry College last Saturday. Several local teams fared well in the varsity division. Bobcats fall to Creekview 43-7Our Lady of Mercy’s Bobcats fell to Creekview 43-7, but head coach Bryan Pinabell saw good effort and knows the game was closer than the scoreboard indicated. The Bobcats had two touchdowns called back due to penalties, including one from a 92 yard run from quarterback William Pearl on the second play of the game. Jarrell Bankhead ran four yards for Our Lady of Mercy’s lone touchdown, but Pinabell praised the play of Christian Willis, 10 tackles and 65 yards rushing, Will Simmons, nine tackles, and Patrick Silloway, seven tackles, in the game. Sixth-ranked Whitewater hands fourth-ranked Starr's Mill first lossTwo of the top teams in the state played each other Tuesday in a key Region 2-AAAA game: the fourth-ranked Starr's Mill Lady Panthers and the sixth-ranked Whitewater Lady Wildcats. McIntosh varsity softball team blasts its way past CreeksideMcIntosh’s Lady Chiefs varsity softball team defeated Creekside 22-1 on Tuesday. After only notching one run in the first, McIntosh scored 11 runs in the second and 10 in the third for the win. FCHS wrestler is a double All-AmericanPatrick Blankenbeker is a versatile teenager; the 16-year-old junior at Fayette County High School is a runner on the school’s cross country team, plays piano and is a member of the school’s quartet team, which sang its way to a region championship last year. Starr’s Mill volleyball team stays undefeated, beats state’s top teams in tough weekend tournamentThe volleyball teams from Starr’s Mill and McIntosh faced off against some of the top teams in the state on Saturday. The Lady Panthers did very well, going undefeated on the day, while McIntosh went 2-3.
