East Coweta beats Paulding 3-0East Coweta won its fourth straight game yesterday, defeating Paulding County 3-0 in a Region 4-AAAAA game. The victory raised East Coweta's overall record to 8-4 and region record to 3-0. Local teams pick up a lot of runs in region games this weekThe McIntosh varsity softball team hosted Westlake on Tuesday evening and won 18-0 in three innings. Freshman pitcher Linsey Hearn picked up the win. She pitched a no-hitter and struck out three of the 11 batters she faced. It was her third win of the season and it came on her 15th birthday. Hearn also drove in a run and stole a base. St. Paul team looking forward to seasonSt. Paul Lutheran School’s varsity volleyball team placed first in last year’s Private Athletic Conference, and plans on another winning season. Well, what most would have thought would be an unlikely outcome entering the season almost became a reality Friday night in Sharpsburg, when East Coweta (1-1) had to come from behind and hold on for a 20-10 victory over the scrappy McIntosh Chiefs. Starr's Mill comes from behind to defeat Rockdale County 21-14Starr’s Mill was two quarters away Friday from losing to Rockdale County and starting the season a surprising 0-2. But it staged a comeback in the second half, shutting out host Rockdale County’s offense and scoring eight points to pull out its first win of the season, 21-14.
