Top-ranked teams pick up more wins last Tuesday

A number of local volleyball teams were in action on Tuesday and the results were positive.
Starr’s Mill, the top-ranked team in AAAA, beat Fayette County on Tuesday, 25-11, 25-14, while McIntosh, the second ranked team in AAAA, defeated Northgate 25-18, 25-11. Northgate also picked up a win over Lovejoy, 25-14, 25-11, while the Lady Tigers got a 25-19, 25-9 win over Banneker.

Fayette’s Beth Hays racked up six kills and three aces for the night, and Christine Rape scored three digs against Starr’s Mill.
Northgate and Fayette County will meet at Creekside on Tuesday. McIntosh will play North Gwinnett,, Monroe and Norcross at North Gwinnett on Friday before hosting Whitewater and Banneker on Tuesday.

Whitewater, ranked 10th in AAAA, beat Creekside 25-21, 25-11 and Riverdale, 25-11, 25-16.
Sandy Creek, ranked third in AAA, defeated Cedartown 25-9, 25-6 and Haralson County 25-8, 25-10. The Lady Patriots will host Central, Carroll and Villa Rica next Tuesday.

Our Lady of Mercy defeated S.A.C.A. 25-13, 25-13 and then defeated Greenforest Christian 25-7, 25-19. Sophomore Middle Attacker Sam Morris had seven kills, two blocks and eight aces. Senior Middle Attacker Kelly Tolcher had six kills, two blocks, one dig and three aces.

Senior setter Katie Bischoff had three kills, 11 digs and 19 assists. Sophomore libero Megan Malasarte had nine digs.

Our Lady of Mercy hosted Landmark Christian and Mundy’s Mill last night after the paper went to press.
