Canongate Golf Clubs is proud to announce the winners of the 2007 Canongate Junior Tour Championship held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13-14 at Canongate Golf Club in Sharpsburg. Over 250 juniors representing all Canongate courses competed and earned points throughout the year to qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship.

Last Friday night the Landmark War Eagles saw their six year region winning streak snapped in front of a stunned home crowd as they loss to fifth ranked Fellowship Christian Academy 24-17.

The Fayette County Tigers are steamrolling through Region 2-AAAA.

No. 9-ranked Fayette whipped Westlake 37-6 Friday night for its seventh consecutive victory.

Braxton Lane is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the state.

He can dominate a game with the ball in his hands, which he did Friday, catching eight passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns in Sandy Creek’s stunning 28-14 victory over No. 3-ranked Carrollton.

The Fayette County Middle Schools finished their softball seasons last night. The Whitewater Wildcats placed first in the county and the J.C.

Mike and Kevin preview the four local teams in the state softball playoffs, which start Friday, and touch on area volleyball tournament action, which gets underway this week.

The area volleyball tournaments have already begun and a number of local teams are hoping to propel their way to the state tournament with their play this week.

Spring Hill Elementary recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their brand new track in preparation for their fourth annual Turkey Trot. The official ribbon cutter was Mike Vigil from Allen Vigil Ford (official sponsor of the Turkey Trot).

Quarterback Brandon Boykin ran 13 times for 86 yards and one touchdown.

The All-Region 6-AAA selections were recently announced, and seven Sandy Creek players were selected to the team.

Meagan Sitton was a first-team selection, and Megan Kallatsa was a second-team selection.

Whitewater High School would like to alert their surrounding neighbors that a military flyover has been planned for Friday, Oct. 19.

The Landmark Christian War Eagles traveled to be the homecoming visitors for the Whitefield Wolfpack last Friday and spoiled the activities by defeating their region 5-A opponent 31-13.

Starr’s Mill students and members of the Panther varsity football team Blake Debartola and Corey Coleman decided to have an eating contest between friends and hundreds of students showed up.

Coming off a one-point loss to last season’s Region 6-AAA champion, Cartersville, the Sandy Creek Patriots were in position to bounce back Friday, facing the winless Central, Carroll Lions.
