Fayetteville's Davis now an established veteran for the ABA's Atlanta VisionLast year, Fayetteville resident Kelvin Davis was the ABA’s oldest rookie. This year, Davis, a point guard for the Atlanta Vision, is simply the oldest player. Age ain’t nothing but a number for Davis, 48, and his fans, and he is looking forward to getting more playing time this season and proving that the game has not passed him by. Football players of the week for 11/2Fayette County Wingback Tim Pettaway ran five times for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Fullback Matt Daniels carried 10 times for 93 yards and one touchdown. State Champs - McIntosh knocks off Starr's Mill to capture AAAA state titleThe fourth time was the charm. The McIntosh varsity volleyball team had lost to Starr’s Mill three times during the season, but won when it counted the most. The two teams, ranked No. 1 (Starr’s Mill) and No. 2 (McIntosh) in Class AAAA met Saturday in the state championship game and the Lady Chiefs won in four games, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21. The first All-Citizen softball teamPitcher of the year - Morgan Kidd, McIntosh Signing a scholarship to attend and play softball for Boston College next week, a decision she had made earlier this season, Kidd focused on getting her team to the state playoffs and she dominated opponents during the season. She went 15-5 with an ERA of 0.08. She gave up 16 earned runs in 136 innings, allowing only 54 hits and 23 walks while striking out 259 batters. |
