Landmark tops Mercy, 63-24

The first quarter of the Landmark Christian School/Our Lady of Mercy football game last Friday was an epic battle with the War Eagles edging the Bobcats in scoring 14-10. Landmark took over in the second quarter though, scoring 28 points, and the War Eagles cruised to a 63-24 win, the second seed in region 5-A and a home game to open the state playoffs this Friday.

Landmark was led by quarterback Tanner Bryant. Bryant rushed for 155 yards and one touchdown on six carries, while going 9-for-12 passign with 212 yards and three touchdowns. Josh Gebhardt led the defense with six total tackles, three tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception.

Scoring for Our Lady of Mercy on Friday were William Pearl with two touchdown runs, Dominique McDermott with a touchdown run and Jacob Lescene with a 46 yard field goal. The Bobcats rushed for 334 yards on the night with McDermott rushing for 287 yards on 22 carries. The Mercy defense was led by 11 total tackles from Patrick Silloway, while both Amir Mustafaa and Will Simmons had seven tackles. Simmons and Tommy Kearns (five total tackles) each had a fumble recovery and Mustafaa added a sack.
