Our Lady of Mercy hosted Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy on Friday night and lost 45-22.
Once again, Our Lady of Mercy’s offense generated a lot of yards and points, but the defense had a hard time stopping the Chargers.

The Whitewater Wildcats capitalized on a blocked punt early in their game against McIntosh and never looked back.

Whitewater defeated McIntosh 27-0 and got touchdown runs from Austin Faulkner, Thomas Frierson and David Byrd. Faulkner’s touchdown was a one yard run in the first quarter, Frierson scored on a two yard run in the second quarter and a 55 yard run in the third quarter and Byrd scored on a 35 yard keeper just over two minutes later.

Northgate defeats McIntosh twice for region title

The Northgate Lady Vikings are the queens of Region 2-AAAA.

Northgate defeated the McIntosh Lady Chiefs twice Thursday, 5-1 and 2-1, to win the Region 2-AAAA championship at McCurry Park in Fayetteville.

McIntosh defeats Northgate and Starr's Mill, advances to region championship

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs are now one victory away from winning the Region 2-AAAA championship.

No. 2 seed McIntosh defeated fourth-seeded Starr’s Mill 2-1, then handed top-seeded Northgate its first region loss of the season, 1-0, Tuesday to advance to the region championship game Thursday at McCurry Park in Fayetteville.

• Significant accomplishments: Verbally committed to play softball at Georgia. As a freshman in 2004, was the first softball player in Whitewater history to be named to both all-county and all-region teams. First four-year starter in softball in school history. Has lettered in four different sports: softball, basketball, track and golf. Lettered in high academics (a 93 or above in all classes) freshman year, and has been on the honor roll ever since.

Teams pick up some wins in region tournament

McIntosh defeated Creekside 18-0 in three innings to open the region 2-AAAA tournament. The Lady Chiefs scored all 18 of their runs in the first inning. Jessica Conaway went 3-for-3 with five RBIs, Holly Houghton went 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and Amber Shaw went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Others driving in runs for McIntosh in the win were Nicole Fox, Ariel Shaw, Aimee McKibbin and Kara Wright.

Sandy Creek falls to defending region champion Cartersville 17-16

Sandy Creek had a chance Friday to knock off defending Region 6-AAA champion Cartersville, holding a 16-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

The top six finishers at the first Dragon Boat races in Peachtree City were: 1. Dragon Boat of Atlanta, 1:09.02 2. Dragon Flies, 1:09.31 3. Air Tran, 1:09.65 4. World Gym, 1:09.89 5. Hella A, 1:10.23 6. Pace GeoTechnical, 1:10.52

The Citizen finished with a time of 1:15.08 ahead of City of Peachtree City’s 1:15.10.

Mercy wins third straight game, tops Glascock County 44-34

With their 44-34 win over Glascock County last Friday, Our Lady of Mercy’s football team has won three games in a row for the first time in school history. It is the first time ever that the Bobcats have won three games in a season.
