Whitewater wins third straight, tops Banneker 20-12

Whitewater celebrated their homecoming by hosting Banneker and winning 20-12.



The Wildcats got two touchdowns from Thomas Frierson and two field goals from J.C. Jennings on their way to the win. Frierson rushed for 67 yards on 20 carries. Whitewater rushed for 175 yards on the night.

Whitewater’s defense gave up two big plays for close to 155 yards and held the Trojan offense to 34 yards rushing and 215 yards total. Thomas Richard forced a fumble in the first half and Chris Asbury, the homecoming king, recovered a fumble in the second half. Ian Parsons intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter to preserve the win for the Wildcats.

The Whitewater defense was led by Ryan Hidalgo with 13 tackles and a forced fumble and Zach Mann with 13 tackles, a sack and two forced fumbles. Richard finished with eight tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery.

Whitewater has won three games in a row.

"We're playing with more confidence and gaining experience with playing at a higher tempo,"said Coach Amos McCreary.
