Mercy wins third straight game, tops Glascock County 44-34

With their 44-34 win over Glascock County last Friday, Our Lady of Mercy’s football team has won three games in a row for the first time in school history. It is the first time ever that the Bobcats have won three games in a season.

The Bobcats got two touchdowns from Jarrell Bankhead (four catches for 77 yards, 2TDs) , two from Dominique McDermott (117 yards rushing on seven carries) and one each from Christian Willis (97 yards rushing on eight carries) and William Pearl in the win. For the third week in a row, Our Lady of Mercy scored more points than they had the week before.

Mercy had 284 yards rushing and 118 yards passing on the night. Though the defense allowed 434 yards (353 yards rushing) they kept Glascock County off the scoreboard in the first quarter and held them to 34 points. The defense was led by 12 total tackles from Will Simmons, nine tackles from Tommy Kearns and seven a piece from Willis, Bankhead and McDermott. Patrick Silloway and Amir Mustafaa each had six total tackles. Silloway added a fumble recovery, Mustafaa added a sack and McDermott had an interception.

Our Lady of Mercy will host Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy on Friday.
